So, I have almost no clue about the whole smelting/casting process. As of right now, I'm not in the position to do either (my apartment won't let me make fire), but I'd like to get the information on doing it all. So, are there any decent books for me to page through to learn?

Also, are Wheelweights alone good enough for boolits?

Are you talking bullet casting specifically or casting in general? If the latter, I have a reference you can borrow after Anvil is done with it.

Your better off on the cast bullet website out of Los Angeles . The RCBS book is just charts for size of cast slug VS alloy mix . One page on oven heat treating VS alloy for hardness .

The bullet will show you if the mold is too cold -hot - dirt - lead needs tin .Previous experience as a welder , gives peoples an 80% increase casting skills.
People make more of it than need be . Smelt -flux -pour ,,, throw the bad ones back in the pot.

Thanks guys. My stepdad runs a hydraulics business, so he deals with truck shops a lot. And well, they may be able to give him some presents for me....
