Got a few questions:
What's the best way to clean the old lube out?
Can you just add another type of lube and keep on sizing or do you need to do a little housekeeping?
Is the large nut on top standard threads or left handed cuz I couldn't budge it.(mostly out of fear of F'n it up)
I spent this afternoon making a 1/4 steel mounting plate for my external heat source. Maybe I'll be cranking it by Saturday.

Lube out- get a heat gun amd warm up the body of the LAM and it will run out. some other heat source might work.
Add lube- Yes, but it will be a mix of two lubes in varying degrees for a while. best to use up old before changing imho.
threads- can't remeber- would have to check but i think normal threads. try warming up with heat gun hairdryer lamp or something

It's just on there tight. I used channel locks to tighten and loosen the nut.
The lube in there is Lar's Red. It needs a bit of heat to flow. Try it out. Needs heat, but is a very good lube.
Quickest way to get the lube out is take out the pressure assembly by loosening the nut and taking out the big screw and everything. You might have to back it out of the threads at the bottom of the lube reservoir.
Tip it upside down and hit the lube reservoir with a torch to heat it up. Get it hot enough and it will drain out.

It has Lars Red in it and you want to remove it? The best way to remove it is by applying it to bullets and then refilling the reservoir with more Lars Red.

I had ordered some stuff from midway and ended up with 2 sticks of Thompson Blue Angel. Didn't see any of the suggested types so I just read some of the reviews and got that kind.
I was planning on using up what was in there then cleaning it and using up the Blue Angel. I picked it out as an afterthought really just to meet my $25 order limit.
Anybody use it?

Cast me about 200 boolits tonight and tried out the sizer.
I'm sure there's a technique to using this thing but I've yet to perfect it.
I had to wipe all my baby boolits bottom clean from the lube.
Any pointers, I downloaded some directions but they were pretty vague.
More to come...

If you are using a bullet with more than one lube grove, plug the extra holes. That's the older RCBS die and it has four sets of holes. Shot works well.
Try adjusting the depth a bit so the bullet doesn't go in as far. If you just plug the second row and adjust til the first lube groove lines up with the top lube holes, you should be all set.

I'm using the single lube band Lee 230gr TC mold boolit. I think I may have had a little too much heat at first, the Lars had the consistancy of warm peanut butter. Things actually started looking better after the lube cooled down.
Anyone try lubing TL boolits with a lubrisizer?

I have the RCBS Lube-Matic since 1988.. I bought a wrench from one of the tool guys to snug the large nut on top, it just a thin flat short wrench, its all I needed, WRIGHT 1 3/8, part # 1444.
To the fella that ended up with the Blue Angel, if you do not want it, I'll take it, so long as it is the hollow (hole down middle). I been using it with no problems for a number of yrs, just need heat to make it go through the luber.

I tried the Blue Angel this morning, not near as messy as the Lars but I still can't figure out the pressure deal. When I get enough pressure to fill the bands I start getting lube on the base of the boolit.
Is this just something you have to deal with using a lubrisizer?

Plug the hole below the top row. Then adjust the depth to line up the lube groove with the top hole. Another fix is to get a RCBS sizer with one lube hole. Line the lube groove up with the lube hole and all is well.

Both of my 45's seem to do better with a larger boolit. My TL boolits would lead if I ran them through the .452 Lee sizer so I just shot them as cast with no leading.
Do they make just a lube die that doesn't size the boolit down.

You'd have to hone out a sizer die to .001-.0015" larger than the bullet diameter so it fills the grooves but doesn't clean up the bullet size.
