I would be careful of sending invites via PM as that can be examined by an admin. A better way would be to send them email via the profile link just saying "howdy". When they reply to your email, you can then mention GP.

I can't see where it would chap anyone's butt, as long as it is done privately. I imagine most of the ones who answer the emails attached to "report post" icons are happy to see the perceived headaches go away on their own.
