I know we have got some avid reloaders here. Since this is a new board and there seems to be an increased intrest in reloading due to the prices of bullets, lets see some picturers of your reloading rooms and gear.

I always get a kick out it and am always looking for new ideas.

I'll show y'all mine if you show me yours !:patriot:

I think this is a great thread idea. Helps the new guys see what the rest of us are doing.

This room didn't exist in my house until I saw some of the pictures on that other site, and on Brian Enos' place..

Still a work in progress, but suits me so far.

Some of your set-ups are flat out awesome guys, I especially like Kastiron's. Very clean and neat set up.

here is my modest little rig. I live in a 5 room apartment so space is at a premium. I built it on an old TV stand that I have had for probably 15 years. Its mobile so I can cart it into the TV room if need be, but it usually camps out next to the computer in the study.

Hopefully some day I will have a nice blue press and a dedicated room for my reloading.

First Post Here!

This is my indoor reloading setup made from an old-timey printer stand - the kind with the big slit in the top that required perforated paper and a chain drive. I replaced the vinyl-covered particle board top with a piece of nice teak hardwood I had laying around, and Mrs. xtm never uttered a complaint when I wheeled it into my office. I can roll it around to wherever I want to use it, or into a walk-in closet, but it generally stays right here.

It's perfectly stable with the Rock Chucker progressive setup, but wobbles a bit when performing heavy-duty re-sizing with the Jr. press. When the top and the lower shelves are loaded down with the reference books, dies, brass, and bullets due to be reloaded, it stays in place when parked on carpet. Note that I put a piece of heavy saddle leather on the base of the Jr. so it wouldn't mar the wood wherever I clamp it down. I still do plenty of reloading/casting in the garage and shed.

It took me a while to figure out where everyone went. When I asked the question at the other place, I got scolded and locked out for a while - but thanks to some timely PMs, I found out!

Prior answer is correct. Term took on reloading meaning at GTR. Jawjaboy is the source of (probably all) the stickers you are seeing on various boards.

Right now it is set up to load .45 auto, and the spare tool head and dies for 9mm have yet to be set up; I am still hoping to score a mount for the tool head from Shovel66 (hint hint).

Well I have been on a press buying spree lately for the new shop, here are a few pictures of the current configuration the light blue C press is an old Pacific Standard. This will be used for seating my .223 match loads; the Rock Chucker is for sizing them. The Lyman is for sizing the .308 match loads, and the RCBS is for seating them. The Projector will go on the next bench and be used for .41 mag.

It's pretty good, it wobbles a little because the floor trim prevents it from being flush with the wall. I need to try putting some more weight on it or stuffing old t-shirts in the gap. Overall, I like it. It's better than the bookcase I was using before.

Well I just used the plans for the NRMA bench and used 2x4's instead of 4x4's one sheet of oak what they call hardwood but its plywood I dont care what they say. The stores around here did not have the kits either. I'm no carpenter but it was pretty easy to build. You can pretty much use the NRMA plans and just adjust for the size you need, mine turned out a little bigger than I planned but it still fits the space I had for it.

I know, but Natural Resources Canada doesn't. The storage regulations for smokeless powder say you have to write the word "Explosives" in large, contrasting letters on the container.

I use my 650 for large runs but I prefer to use the single stage for my match loads simply because they are done in lots of one hundred and I would find it irritating to have to readjust the dies if I only had one press. This way every thing is set up once and ready to go when I have the time. I am also able to do more than one task at a time such as sizing .223 and then seating the .308. I just like having specific tools for specific jobs. I don’t have OCD, I don’t have OCD I don’t have OCD. I don’t have OCD.

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.

I built it from the NRMA plans a while back. The top hutch hides all kinds of stuff. Bullets and primers in the right side, powder all the way to the left.

Dies and so forth in the middle compartments on top. Other accessories in the bottom middle compartment.

All kinds of stuff on the bottom section of the bench itself.

I have since put up OSB behind the bench, and have added casting equipment to the left of the bench. The garage is heated and cooled, per the season.

Of course, it turned a two car garage into a one car garage, but that's okay.

Here's a few pics of where I spend about 6-8 hours a day keeping busy. On the first pic you can see the first Dillon 900. (3 300's on one bench). I load for about everything that goes bang. I have one MEC set up 2" 12 gauge and believe in specializing my equipment to minimize having to change stuff out. I like to dedicate one press to a major caliber group like 45 ACP, 38 Special of 9 MM. My 650 works for four different 223 based calibers. The AA Turrets do my single stage low quantity stuff and the 550 does the medium quantity runs.

I'll see what I can do on the questions.

The 900 as produced now for shot shells is huge with it's case feed and powder/shot bottles. I see one at Dillons about once a month and the are impressive.

The 300's were made in the early 80's. The bottom frame is cast but the rest is machines. they told em they only made 300 of them and I own 1% of the total production. The shell plate runs counterclockwise as opposed to the 550 and 650 going clockwise. The primer feed is manual and I think better than the 550 for "feel"

I fitted Lee Auto Measures to the presses as Dillon did not have the auto powder measures for many years. The Lee set up uses cavities for powder charges. I go in and re-cut them to get the exact weight I want as the powders do vary from lot to lot.

The powder cans are used as my bench stock. The more common powders I use are purchased in bulk and I refill the cans as needed. The Unique can price sticker reads $4.59!!

I have had 3 presses running at once. The stepson and his buddy on one each and me on the 650. Lots of components were used that day.

I will post some pics on the Star case feed and some on how I adapted the Dillon feeder to that set up. I will also do a shot or two on the adjustable charge bar on that press that is not very common.

The MEC board is a cutting board with a groove on the perimeter edges. I drilled a hole in the groove and mounted a jar to catch any powder or shot that gets on the platform then I can separate the shot and powder and reuse them.

Wow, Greg...I feel so inferior now! :-/

GLShooter
07-28-2009, 12:49 PM
No reason to feel inferior. I've been doing this since 1975 and have had a longtime to get it all together. I started loading for a Rem 700 Varmint 223, a 1911, a Python and a Model 29.

In 1976 I started shooting competitively in IHMSA and the reloading is the only thing that allowed me to shoot that much. From IHMSA I moved to PPC in 1980 and IPSC the same year. At that point I was shooting about 30,000 rounds/year and my Lyman AA turret barely kept up. I could do 300 rounds an hour with it. I moved up to the Dillon 300 in 1981 and things went much quicker after that!!

IPSC kept me busy for years and when they started 3 Gun stuff it got real busy. I got into Sporting Clays somewhere in the late 80's and acquired the MEC 9000G just to feed that little endeavor along wit my Benelli for 3 Gun.

I'll attach some pics of the Star Case Feed set up like I promised. The first one is a pic of the Dillon Case Feeder that was fitted as a brass supplier for the Star.

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj42/GLShooter/STAR%20CASE%20FEED/DSC00934.jpg

This is the case inserter portion of the set up with it ready to accept a case.

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj42/GLShooter/STAR%20CASE%20FEED/DSC01393.jpg

Next with the ram forward inserting a case:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj42/GLShooter/STAR%20CASE%20FEED/DSC01394.jpg

As promised here is a pic of the adjustable powder bar that I purchased from a a guy up in Wisconsin in the late 80's. It made the Star a great deal versatile for load work as I didn't want to buy a ton of charge bars.

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj42/GLShooter/STAR%20CASE%20FEED/DSC01398.jpg

I do believe it is a Hulme because the fellow that had it originally was using that blue bowl set up that I have seen on Hulmes before. The auto index would be a great adding to the press for speed.

Unfortunately the cost is pretty high to do a caliber conversion on the Star. I got deal on mine but in hind sight I should have bought a 650 at the time. Since all I load on it is 9X21 it works out well for me.

That is what the guy in my previous link indicated he was designing when he set up the initial experiment. My guess is that there is some kind of resistor run through the powder to turn electricity into heat. I am too lazy to look it up though, probably since I don't reload BP and it is all theory from outside of the window for me.

Maybe a BP reloader will chime in with their thoughts (see next line first).

We should probably move this discussion to another thread if we are going to continue it.

Found a pic of my reloading die stash. Kind of dorky looking but it works for me.
