View Full Version : G35 Slide Rear Lift & Tick

The rear of my G35 slide lifts slightly about 1/2 way through the trigger pull, and it has a "tick" just before the striker lets go. This is driving me nuts.

The rear of my G22 slide actually sits down a bit at the start of the trigger pull. When I mate the G22 frame/G35 slide and G35 frame/G22 slide, neither gun has the upward motion or last second tick.

I'm thinking that there is something fishy about the mating surfaces at the rear of the cruciform and the striker extension. Should I buy a new trigger bar and striker and see if it goes away? I guess I could swap out the trigger bar and striker from the G22 and see if that cures it first...

Thoughts?

Call Glock and ask for the parts for free, it's the CRB way.

Swap the parts and see if the problem stays with a specific part.

I just did a check with some dummy rounds, and it completely went away. Apparently it's an empty gun phenomenon only. Whew! Now I only have to partially be OCD about it.

I'm going to try the parts swap while watching a movie tonight anyway...

Friggin OCD.

Movie? Don't you have to work tomorrow morning?

Work? What's that?

Actually, my wife had shoulder surgery Tuesday, so I've been working partial days most of the week. I think I can get in a full day tomorrow, or nearly so.

I tell ya, it's a big emotional switch to hang around the house and care for someone. I've only done it for a few days now, and I'm about to go crazy. Anyone who has done this long term has my sincere respect.

I'm going to watch a movie at home, sitting in bed, with the wife and her shoulder gizmos.

Take both guns apart and throw everything in a bag, shake it up and re-assemble. Problem solved

I'm off the road right now doing the same thing, very humbling experience. Doing my best to stay positive.

I'm thinkin' safety plunger and the trigger bar contact area. Also take a close look for debris around the plunger hole and spring. If it is not compressing fully you will get weird vertical slide movement. The sound could be originating there too. Let us know if you find anything.

I fiddled with the plunger earlier (that was my first guess), and it seems to push in and out just like the G22 plunger, pretty easy, no crud. I'll check it again and see if maybe it's bottoming out and causing the final vertical movement.

Oh, and even with a mag in the gun (empty or not), all of this motion and ticking stops completely. I feel a little sheepish to continue chasing it. Maybe it'll give me something to do while my wife recovers.

God never meant anything as long as a 35 to fly. Tain't natural.

Steve, that's actually very common and lots of Glocks do it including, one of mine. Its just the way the trigger-bar torques when moved to the rear. I don't know why some do it and some don't but...they just do. I actually think most do it "to some degree", its just more pronounced (noticable) in some than others. Swap a few parts around and see if it makes a difference.

Buy a Sig for playing around with at home and staring at it will pulling the trigger. Shoot the Glock at the range. Problem solved. ;)

I hate anything whose slide jiggles on the frame rails.

Steve,

Get a S&W 952 or Sig P210 and you will not have to worry about the slide jiggling.

At least that is what the pizza delivery boy told me.

Or a correctly fitted 1911.

I watched my G20 last night and it drops when I pull the trigger.
