So after hiking the Grouse Grind I'm having dinner and these two young (to me) punks sit down and start yaking away. One guy starts talking about this cool pistol he saw in a movie. Apparently you can get it in Canada, but only in the single shot version (tears coming to my eyes). Just what every good homey wants - a single shot ******.
The other guy replies that he heard of a car dealership in "the states" where if you bought a car you would get a free "$100" handgun. I had to bite my tounge to avoid telling him the only handgun for $100 is a high point, and they may be over $100 by now.
Man I'm glad I'm an American, and my government trusts me with evil guns.

...- a single shot ******.
:rolleyes5:
Never say ******.
Canadian gun laws are nuts.
A guy I worked with a number of years back had just moved in from Nova Scotia.
We invited him to go shootin wit us, since he never really had a chance ta shoot as a free man.
He was completely amazed at all da stuff we took wit us.
Only took 4-5 handguns an a couple a AR'a an a AK an a FAL an a Ruger MK II.
He was nervous as hell.

Most Canucks don't even know our own gun laws. Semi-auto handguns are limited to 10 round magazines. Semi-auto centerfire rifles limited to five round mags. Gun owners are a very small minority here. Most Canadian gun owners however probably have larger collections then the average Amurican. I have a fairly small one at around 24 pieces. I have a friend that is pushing 500, and many others at around the 100 mark.
Slick, the collection you had for the Bluenoser is fairly typical for the crowd I run with, except replace the AK with a Czech VZ-58 (we can get those).

If you're one of a select few to have a prohibited license, you can also buy newly manufactured automatic weapons, correct?

Negative. Only those who possessed a full auto firearm prior to 1976 I believe the date is, will have class 12(2) on their license and can own full autos. Only those guns that were registered before that date can be owned. The people with this classification can buy, sell and trade among themselves, but once you get rid of all your firearms in a particular class, you lose that classification on your license and you can’t get it back. If you don’t already have a classification on your license, you can’t get it added (except of course 12(7): inherited prohibited handguns manufactured prior to 1946).
There are actually 6 different prohibited classes that you can have on your license. I happen to have the smallest one on mine, 12(4). There are only five guns: AUG, Sterling MK IV, Uzi A model (closed bolt semi only), semi-auto Mac’s and the Partisan Avenger. There are only 609 of these firearms registered to 475 owners in the whole country. If I were to sell my AUG to one of these other people, I would never be able to own another one (there are only 293 of them up here).
It is all quite confusing.

I don't even want to begin to know, I have enough trouble keeping up with US firearms laws.

Just watch out for government contracts for chop saws. Then you'll know what 'registration equals confiscation' means.

ATF is already doing it, seen the latest confiscation of MGs?

Was teaching at a kayak symposium with a friend from Canada last weekend. He was all excited about getting a PERMIT!!!!! (for God's sake!) to have a rifle. He sorta pooped his pants when he saw what I had behind the seat of my truck.
