Who makes the best moulds, second to none? Why?
This is a spin off of another thread I hijacked, I'm of the opinion H&G moulds, now Ballisti-Cast, are considered by some to be the best. If I'm dropping some coin on moulds, do it right the first time and be done with it.
I have a couple custom Lee moulds on order, but that it the extend of my dealings with the Al moulds.
What say you?

I am biased towards Ballisti-Cast myself. I have a couple of their molds and couldnt be happier with the quality.
One thing with Ballisti-Cast is they tailor the mold to your alloy so you need to have an idea of what you will be casting with before you order.
I was having problems finding a SWC mold that cast to size for my 45. I was using WW/Lead 50/50 plus 2% tin for my alloy and bullets will come out small from most off the shelf molds. Plus I wanted the finished bullet to be .4525.
Called Ballisti-Cast, ordered the H&G 68 design for my alloy and the size I needed. About a week and a half later it was in my hands.
There are several custom mold makers that do exellent work. Lyman and RCBS also do great molds and have some very good designs available.

Lyman/RCBS are equal in quality. Have yet to try my Mountain Molds that are incoming.
Dan, check out their site, mountainmolds.com. There is an online program that you design your own mold, then buy that exact mold.

I am a total N00b to casting but I really like SAECO molds.
The bullets drop out of them like they where buttered. They sprue cutter stays on tight. The metal is hard. And purple like a P7.
They are expensive and they take long time to get. However I do not seeing going to another mold manufacturer anytime soon.

As far as my use, I have (3) RCBS mold that have a lot of bullets made in the past.
Taking an interest in the 147gr 9mm, sent mail to Ballist-Cast, and got quick reply.... a few week later, the lady at Ballist-Cast sent a follow-up e-mail to see if I still was interested in their product. She told me lead time is a couple weeks I think it was.
SAECO has caught my eye also, as they has a 145gr RN that looks like what I used to buy from vendor to shoot in my 38 Super way back when, along with the 125gr RN that looks like same bullet on market from a few different vendors. Drawback is the production time...
Still have not bought molds yet, resources currently paying bills.

Any of you gents know of a custom house I could send a CAD drawing to and have them cut a mould?
Not talking about Lee either, I'm talking about a job shop, built to my specs, my material, my everything, down to Rockwell hardness and surface finish.

The place Freak mentioned; Mountain Molds, Is the only place I know that has a design your own setup.
A quality iron mold will last several lifetimes if cared for properly.
