I was thinking of getting one but I am a little bit afraid the the Bark and Bite for that matter.
Seems like 180 travelling at 1300 might be a bit much out a sub compact.
What is it like shooting the g29?

Go to YouTube and search for my username. I have a video of my shooting DT's 180gr XTP @ 1297fps from my 28oz aluminum four inch 1911. Very similar in weight and barrel length as the G29. It's not bad at all.
I've shot some max loads of #9 with 200gr XTP and 135gr Noslers in the G30 with KKM 10mm barrel. Noticeable recoil, but not brutal.

You are one of the primary influences as to why I bought my G20
I really understand better your's and other's zeal for 10mm. I can not understand why 10mm is the not the most popular caliber.
You can have to shoot tame. You can have it shoot like a tiger.
It can be used for punching paper or killing deer. It is perfect.

I'm flattered. Thanks.
Two cartridges I absolultely love are the 10mm and 45.

I don't have a G29, but my brother does. While he owns a few firearms, he's not really a firearms person. I've shot his G29, and I haven't found the recoil to be excessive. However, I've also shot some .450 SMC, .45 Supers, and .400 Cor-Bons through my G30. (Just to make the point that I have shot some "hot" stuff from the same platform as the G29.) Never saw the need for the Super and SMC, for my uses. Could see the need, if I hunted Bambi with handguns. I'd NEVER use DT ammo for s.d. purposes.
I do own a G20 and love it. I bought an LWD barrel, not because I was experiencing any bulging (I don't use DT ammo, so that's not likely to be an issue.), but I do get more reloads out of my brass with the LWD barrel.
I TRULY wish that I'd gone 10mm years ago, instead of wasting all that time and $$$ screwing around with .40 Super and .400 Cor-Bon!

My G29 and I have been an inseparable pair for a few years now. It's my EDC gun. I reload and handload ammo for it. It is still box stock except for Pearce +0 "PG-29" magazine base extensions on my mags.
I've shot somewhere between 2500-3000 rounds thru mine, and never had a hiccup. I've never shot anything lighter than 165-gr thru my gun, but I've shot 155s out of a buddy's G29. I have a strong preference for 180-gr bullets. In fact, I don't order component bullets in any other weight. My EDC load is new Georgia Arms G10B 180-gr Gold Dots that I have chrono'd out of my gun at 1185-fps. Winchester 175-gr Silvertips are a bit slower than that.
I'd NEVER use Double Tap ammo for anything in my gun. Period. That's just my opinion, yet I know a lot of velocity junkies and other well-reasoned shooters like McNett's ammunition.
Anyway, to your question. The first time I was invited to shoot a G29 I thought I'd be holding on to a stick of dynamite when it went off. But the amazing thing is that it's surprisingly easy to control, and its recoil is not objectionable at all. And I am not a recoil junkie, I assure you!
Again, with 180-gr high-end quality ammo I think the recoil is no worse than shooting a 158-gr .38 +P FBI Load from an Airweight J-Frame, or a 125-gr SJHP Remington R357M1 .357 out of a 4" K-frame. I'm also reminded of recoil sensation similar to .45 ACP 185-gr +P from a 1911. Some fellow shooters and friends of mine have commented that it's gentler than shooting a 155-gr .40S&W from a G27 and I couldn't agree more. Shooting a G29 not bad at all, I assure you.
If you want to shoot 135- or 155-gr bullets to really step up the speed I can tell you that recoil is not as "tame" as with the heavier 180s.
There is a little bit of torque which I don't notice but I do see when novice shooters, women especially, shoot it with warm loads. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised if you experience shooting a G29, particularly with bullets on the heavier end of the spectrum.
Best,

A plug for myself again, reference my video clips on YouTube with three loads: DT 135gr, DT 180gr, and handloaded 155gr. Notice the recoil difference betweeen them.

Thanks for the YouTube videos, Freak.
Here's a vid of a very small female shooting a G29 with an incredibly bad two-hand hold on the pistol. The first shot's recoil looks fairly stout, but in spite of her left hand doing virtually nothing she settles down and the rest are not bad for a woman of her size.

Yeah, her first shot was rough. Probably a gimme as the first shot from the gun, second was a breakin, then it went better from their. Cool to see a chick shooting a 10mm.
i have a 29 and love it, but am going to sell it when i get the ammo shot up to simplify loading ammo. only draw back i've seen with mine and it wouldn't apply to most shooters is it doesn't want to function with light bullets and light loads as well as my other glocks.

I've got a G29 and love it. The recoil seems stiff at first, but to me it doesn't seem any worse than compact 40's or 45's.

Freak,
What kind of velocity are you getting out of your 155gr handloads?
Thanks, Tyger

1400fps with 13gr Blue Dot. The video ones were at 12.5gr.

Do not forget that when you are ready to unload your g29 please let me know.

10mm performs best with medium to heavy loads. If you shoot 10mm like a 40, just get a 40.

That's really quite impressive out of a small package like that. I sure would not want to be in the way of those puppies!:yikes:

Not to shabby for a 4 inch gun.
