Just thought I'd start things off. Have been a long time reader over on Glocktalk and realize this forum is more universal.
I am LE in DC and have recently moved here from Virginia.... Soon to be moving back :)
There are a lot of changes happening here including the soon to be overturned draconian gun laws. I hope to be able to get back some of my stuff if it works out. Even as a LEO here I may only have my duty and offduty handguns (G-19 & 26). Registered shotgun and rifle as well. I do play by the rules even though it sucks.
I work in the worst neighborhoods in DC, the gun violence is so prevalent it's comical.... I just can't figure out how ludicrous these politicians are.
What's sad is that DC is undergoing a major change... what they call gentrification. The poor, mostly black residents are being displaced into MD (Not talking about public housing.. that's a whole 'nother thing). But mostly good people who can't afford the rising property taxes on the homes that they've had in their families for a hundred plus years.
An influx of wealthy, mostly white, people are buying the overpriced newly developed real estate that the city sold to building contractors for next to nothing.... (Look at the new stadium fiasco).
These new residents, although often quite liberal, tend to assert their rights more vocally. One of which is the right to defend oneself.
We'll see where this goes.
Best,
-Coop

Hey Coop. I'm an LEO in Memphis. We've got the same kind of problem here with Marion Berry - like mayoral "leadership" that loves it's criminals and hates the police.
I think you're right. This place is more universal but I'm wondering... after being open for 24 hours you've already found us here. Did we pop up on a search engine already or did you hear through the grape vine about us?

Thanks for the welcome.
It was posted on the Firing Line as a new site. I figured I would check it out. I really love my glocks. Can't wait to move so I can get a 20, 21, 29, 34, and a 30.. maybe a 23 and 27, too.
We are limited to 17 and 19's for duty. Not bad, but I like variety.
I'm also hoping someone on here is familiar with Marlin levers. I have a 336 that I just can't get right.
Best,
-Coop

Welcome aboard Coop! We are glad to have you.
Hello Coop!
I'm a LEO in CA, specializing in relocating a small percentage of the State population from urban/suburban environments to a rural area where they seem less offensive.
My department has a specialized team armed with Glocks/AR-15's. I carry a HK USP due to policy restrictions. Most of the PD's I work with carry Glocks and are happy with them.
Although none of the PD's issue the Glock E-Tool which troubles me greatly.
Anyway, it's good to be in your company!

Not LE here, but I have seen them drive around in cars in my neighborhood.
It is great to see you here. We may not have all of the answers, but we are friendly.

918v--
Thanks for the coffee on my computer screen this morning. It does clear the sinuses wonderfully.
Retired CA LEO (in 2005), 28 years with Riverside Co. SD. Corrections, patrol, vice/narcotics/intel, and station detective for last 12 years of my career--GTA, prop crimes, then robbery/homicide for the balance of that time. Our rangemasters were part-time, and I did that gig from 1983-2005. Was a SWAT member and rangemaster from 1980-1988, also a part-time gig at my agency at that time.
Coop--I know my way around Marlin leverguns fairly well, and there were some folks at GTR who knew them REALLY well. As the huddled masses of GTR refugees stream in, I'm sure you can get some good answers. Try your question in the "Rifles" sub-forum if yer so inclined--might get a few more responses in a wider/more specific venue than on a public service sub-forum, and a Marlin question might be getting a little wide on topicality.
Welcome to the forum CZ93x62!

Damn, is this a mass GT relocation or something? :seeya:
By the way, not LE (yet, but working on it). Just restarted for the season as a rent-a-cop at a big-name amusement park, and a chem ops specialist in the ARNG.
