Where ya movin to in MD? If it's the Western Shore, it pretty much sucks for firearms, but is great for entertainment and such. The Eastern Shore is the opposite. I've now lived on both, and am happy that most of Harford County seems to be like both squished together.

I think we all need to get to shootin and drinkin, which ever happens first. My only problem is my crap schedule. And Ft. Meade brings back bad memories. It basically is where the Marines started droppin the ball with me.

I now live in Florida; however, I just moved here 8 months ago. I grew up in Rockville, all of my family still lives in Montgomery county, so I still return to DC for at least one week each month.

I wish I could locate a decent range for when I'm home. The one closest to where I lived costs more than dinner at a five star restaurant. :)

With the area of Maryland that you're going to be most of the time, there are at least a few good ranges over that way.

The range in Montgomery county, (which will remain nameless), :) allows LEO's free access (I believe). They make up the money on everyone else. You can't just go in and by an hour's range time. You have to be a "member". Membership rates average from obscene to OMFG.

They do offer a "trial" membership, which gives you two visits over a two week period. I think the cost was between $30 - $59, plus I believe that you had to buy all of your ammo from the range.

In the Tampa - St. Pete area, you can find range fees from a few dollars for the whole day, plus you can bring your own ammo. even one of the "pricier" ranges here gives you a free hour (with local coupon) as long as you buy $15.00 of ammo from the range. I usually redeem the coupon, buy a box of ammo and then bring in a couple hundred rounds of Blazer Brass, which Wal-Mart carries for $8.99 - $12.99 depending on caliber, yet i digress.

If anyone can tell me of a good place to shoot in the DC, MD, NoVA area, I'm open to any suggestions.

I am used to paying $50 for a year and $2 a day to shoot. That $2 gets you all the targets you need, all the clays you want to shoot and the usual stuff..Caldwell rests, spotting scopes, and safety gear if you need it. You can shoot whatever the hell you can find that shoots, if it is legal...lol. You can shoot any kind of ammo, homemade or not. If for some reason you needed to buy ammo or supplies there...they are no more expensive than a local gun store r sporting goods store...he doesn't mark stuff up. And last...but not least...I have left the range more than once with a 5 gal bucket of brass I have picked up!!!

The next closest range has like a $200 membership fee. I don't know all of their particular rules but I assure you they aren't as generous as the range I shoot at. There is an indoor range that just opened up, $365 a year for the membership and I'm not sure but I think you might have to shoot rounds you buy from him, marked up of course, and I am pretty sure when the brass leaves your firearm, even before it hits the ground, he owns it...not that it would matter because you couldn't reload it and shoot it there...lol.
