I won an auction for a 7mm Mauser for $10 in 1965.
I bought a pair of 7mm Mausers for $15 in 2003.

And now in 2008, I am paying $1.31 per bullet.

What caused a cheapskate to get screwed this bad on price?
I only have 10 years left before I am too old to hunt.

Assuming you are in CA and stuck in the region deemed "California Condor breeding grounds". It must have been a law proposed by Barnes, the only evidence being that this is about the only bullet "approved" by fish and game for hunting in Condor country.

I figure, I will be spending around $200 this year for "lead free" :rolleyes5: bullets. This is going to yield me really only 100 or so rounds, not to mention the time working a load up. Takes some of the fun out of it, when you already have 200+ Sierra Kings just collecting dust.

Shoot Nosler partitions and save the money, I've used them on countless sheep, moose, caribou, mt goat, you get the idea. I have yet to see anything in Montana that didn't drop instantly with a well placed shot.
If you're going to eastern Montana take a varmint rifle, we finished an antelope hunt early years ago and spent 2 days shooting prairie dogs, more fun than the lopes and less work gutting and skinning. Yes, we have shot PDs in Oct and Nov.
