I load with the Lyman 525gr slug for my 12ga. (Example: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=778041&t=11082005) What do you other slug-loaders use and how do you like the results?

I am no slug loader, but I have heard good things about this setup:

Sorry, I was asking what kind of slugs people load, not what press people use while loading their slugs.

Load lyman also. Fill hollow cavity in back with 2 part epoxy after spraying cavity with furniture polish then roll slug on file to knurl it.helps slug stay with wad as it travels thru barrel. Also have tryed Guiani DGS slugs from BPI.Get lymans from Gardners cache

I'm not following you on this. Since the gas is pushing the wad and the wad is pushing the slug, how can the slug get significantly ahead of the wad? Do you have indications that the slug is being deformed enough to let the gas go around it and directly push the slug?

Shooting slugs thru rifled barrel. Supposedly ensures slug gets rotaitonal force from wad.Picked this tip up on Shotguns and more shotguns .com slug shooting.Very good information there.Almost as good as here!

I'm eyeing up the Lyman sabot slug mold for the 20ga. I might try to grab some samples off a range buddy that has a mold to try before I buy.
