View Full Version : Any differences reloading nickel cases vs. brass?

TJ's was out of cleaned, de-primed brass so I ordered 1k of nickel from them to load my 1000 free Hornady XTP's! :supergrin:

Any difference in using nickel instead of brass?

It can be harder to spot problems with nickel brass and they tend to wear out quicker. Other than that they seem to load the same.

Nickel looks prettier, and tarnishes less. In 38 I've noticed it runs through my resizing die a little rougher too.

That may change. I had a friend pick me up a new set of hornady 38 dies today.

I find no functional difference between brass & nickel cases.

Love it, I really do.

I'm a big fan of da wimmens movement. Goes back years and years.

Especially when they be walkin' away from me.

Or jogging while wearing no sports bras.

Use Nickel cases when you want to impress a date with a range trip. They crack with fewer re-uses, but they are a little slicker. Some folks will claim they feed better, but I am not convinced.

Hi,

I like nickel cases as they don't tarnish and clean up quick in the tumbler. I don't mind brass either, they both load just fine for me.
