I got cancelled on for this morning's crow hunt, but had purchased a card for the call the gent I was going with has.

I've never hunted over an electronic call of this sort (I've used tapes on crows in the past). I will probably eventually move to hunting yotes and snow geese- someday.

Here is the call I already have the card for:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=null-cat20825_TGP&id=0039508228110a&navCount=1&podId=0039508&parentId=cat20825&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=UH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20825&hasJS=true

I like the price, and am leary of the wireless because of apparent quality issues.

Should I just return the card, or should I pick up the wired caller?

I am looking for either some guidance or a good place to ask the aforementioned where I will get an evenhanded response.

Thanks.

Some are using cheap mp3 players, edited with a variety of calls/pauses etc in the track and set up on a repeat loop. Set up with battery and cheap amp/speaker then move to position away from call and wait.

there was a thread in the GA htf on arfcom a couple months back that got into it pretty good- I may put up a coyote setup to run off my ipod (have a mini pelican ipod all weather case to protect from elements); you could put a CRB system together cheaply.

Its been a while since Ive gone calling..

If the area is not saturated will callers (Song dogs is smart) Electronic calls are the tits. Weve use them at times and the dogs come in fast and many (#4 buc range.) We have also used them and produced very little interest.

What works for us.

Buddy has a throw together system (Like cohut suggested) that loops no wires etc. We set it up away and forward from us. A while back Wal Mart sold this vibrating ball shaped furby fuzzy thing? we hang it into deep brush and turn it on for a visual along with the call absolute dyneemyte (walter brennan immitation)

I ended up purchasing the call linked in my prior post. It works ok for crows, but it needs to run for longer.

I've taken it yote hunting, but have a bad habit of falling asleep, so it may or may not work for that.
