So today I went to my WW supplier. "cant mention names, national company and they might get wise to him giveing me WW for the WW protection program" but as we were sitting there BS'ing i was asking about when i can make my next WW witness transfer. he looked at me and said. "well you got till the end of the year; one Five gallon bucket a month, cause at the start of next year it has been mandated "because of CALIFRONIA" that there will no longer be lead WW" aparently from what he was telling me is that they have to start using these inviromentaly safe WW. has anyone else heard of this???

Ohh yea i have transferd a five gallon bucket full of WW into the protection program today. not to bad for FREE >>>>>> :spam:

yes I herd of this but I thought it wouldn't pass . There saying the ww lead is leaching in to the ground water and getting into the water systems
In one of trade mags houses are testing posative for lead in the water :banghead: We plumber only used 50-50 (50%tin 50% lead) for 50 years ????
When the house sits for mouths and the PH of the water is more asic then a battery ( almost) and then test it is going to show copper and trasses of lead . Now most of that plumbing is almost gone because the home owner didn't have a Neutralizer now there saying that is not the problem it must be coming from the brass well pumps. Goulds pump ( the best well pump around in my mind ) got sued by Ca because brass has trace of lead in it . If memery servis me right Ca couldn't detect lead in the water where brass pump were in use . And now there going to blame WW What f*cken A**holes . Ca has lead deposets in the ground !!!! Ad asid rain to the mix !!!! Now you have asic sweet water and trases of lead . I would realy like to know after they ban ww and the still have lead in the WHAT ARE GOING TO DO NEXT DIG THE LEAD DEPOSET IN THE GROUND ???????:prrr::yikes:

Battery makers are the ones that pick up all the lead from the big chains and then obviously turn them into batteries. After that point it becomes a battery recycling problem, not a WW problem. Kinda hard to make a lead/acid battery without lead. Of course, never underestimate the stupidity of enviro-nazis.

What are they going to do ban batterys . And sue them????:mad2:

So you're saying that if this comes to pass, battery prices are going to go through the roof.

Makes perfect sense. Take something that's working and break it - that's the government's way. :mad2::mad::incazzato::banghead:

(just had to use several of the smilies - Slick put a BUNCH of them over there to play with )

Unless they have some big breakthrough in battery technology before then, and since there hasn't been one in over 100 years I don't hold much hope out for one in the next year. Just a FYI, lithium battries in the early '90s had about 10% more capacity today because of the safety devices that have to be built into the new ones.

The biggest change that will likely happen in car battery technology will be caused by not having to rely on them so much when hydrogen fuel cells start becoming wide-spread. We have big batteries today (i.e. lots of lead and acid) due to the amount of instantaneous power needed to get a gasoline or diesel engine started. Hybrid cars need multiple big batteries to capture regenerative breaking power and to keep the gas engine from having to turn on and off at a frequent rate. Hydrogen powered cars have neither of these battery rate and/or capacity issues, and so H2 powered cars will allow the use of smaller, or even less efficient, battery technologies like the lithium batteries.

Lithium batteries are plenty efficient & will blow away lead acid batteries any day. The real problem is that lithium batteries are far more dangerous for several reasons. One being that they are more fragile & if mutilated or charged improperly they can explode or burst into flame. Lithium batteries are also capable of delivering a shock. For both of these reasons manufacturers sometimes include internal protective circuitry.

Lithium technology is starting to find it's way into hybrid vehicle technology & does wonders for efficiency & range. Lithium batteries also revolutionized RC model aircraft & is the definitive power source because of it's high power to weight ratio that even NiMh & NiCd batteries can't compete with.

Lithium is where it's at, but it's still a young technology that will take some time to really develop into it's full potential. Every cell-phone & laptop battery you've ever had has probably been lithium based. Considering the size & weight of the battery & the extreme demands placed on it in such a device... it's really quite amazing.

This no more lead wheelweight bs ...is it just in certain states or nationwide? Looks like I got to get to hoarding.

from what i was told it will be in all states because "it could harm everyone, and what california does other states are soon to follow" trust me, living so close to california for so long, they will force us "the rest of the population" to follow in their foot steps.
