View Full Version : Jumping around in divisions?

Do you guys jump around in divisions or concentrate on one mainly?

I concentrated on Limited all last year and met my short term goal. Got a little burned out and switched to Production at the beginning of this year. Checked my classification today and am at a higher % in production than Limited after only four classifiers.

Trying to decide if I should set a new goal and concentrate on it or just jump around for a while for fun.

depends on where i shoot and how they run the match. 1 club i shoot 1 class, another i shoot 4 and at yet another i shoot 1 class twice because i don't want to change gun belts for a differant gun. in any given month i'll shoot; single stack, limited, open, and
pistol caliber carbine in USPSA. In GSSF i always shoot all 5 classes that i can, sub, major sub, master stock, competition, and unlimited.

For IDPA, I shoot either my G30 or my Pro Carry 10mm 1911. I'm in whatever class they are. I choose what gun based on my mood.

I think I'm going to shoot my carry gun (G23) this weekend in L10. It has been neglected for quite some time. I think I'll even use my carry holster (IWB)

I need one more classifier for that division.

I pretty much concentrate on one division in USPSA, Limited. Only time I jump between divisions is if my limited gun is out of service, as it is now getting some mods done to it, so have been shooting production lately, or I bought/built a new gun for a specific division and I want to play with my new toy.

My main emphasis has been SSP over the last couple of years. I've switched to ESP on occasion, and will go back to CDP after the SC State match this April.

I'd say I've shot CDP maybe 6 times, and ESP 4-5 times over the past year and a half.

I've been itching to try IDPA. No clubs close to me shoot it. That is the main reason I'm gonna shoot my carry gun in the USPSA match tomorrow.

I have also been wanting to try my hand at Single Stack. As soon as I get my 1911 broke in a little.

IDPA has too many rules for me. i'd love to try my s&w 625 out in a match but hate to spend the money on a gun belt and holster for it to find out i don't like it. i do plan on shooting it in a couple of "GSSF Style" matches this year in the 6 shot or subcompact class to see how i do.

Rick,

Whatever you do...have fun doing it.

ede, we have a few 625 shooters that probably have some spare gear you could borrow. Check out the revovler section on the BrianEnos forum and mention just what you said above...and that you are in Ohio.

Heck...I've shot revolver...and I don't even have one. Those wheel gunners will lend you gear like they were drug dealers giving you your first hit on the crack pipe.

[edit to add]
oh....I just saw you said IDPA and Revolver. That might be a little tougher with the gear. And, I think they require a 4in barrel or less ?

not IDPA, if i ever tried a wheel gun in a match it'd be USPSA. most likely i'd shoot it at the putnam co. WV match, it's small and the stages are pretty simple. guess i had 2 ideas in the same line. what i meant (1st thought) was i don't like IDPA even if i'm a member and shoot it. (2nd thought) was i'd like to try the smith in a match.

I shot with two Wheel gunners at Rayner's this past Sunday. There are a few more running around...probably waiting on mother nature to pump some sunshine on them before they come out of winter hibernation.

I'm pretty sure one has an extra Side Armour holster that he'd let you shoot the match with. (he went to a CR Speed holstr, I think)

He shoots at Rayner's and at C-ville. Let me know and I'll give him a yell for ya.

i bet if i ask john booth would loan me a holster. i might give it a try. i've looked on ebay forever to find a belt and moon carriers and have never seen the first one.

Yeah...JB has a few of those things that go 'round.

I have another buddy (down in WV) that has a whole setup for sale..gun and all. I don't know if he'd part stuff out.
