View Full Version : Stupid Question, I'm Not Afraid To Ask
been looking at 1050s again and am a bit confused. does the "Quick Change Tool Head Conversion" include all the parts in the "Caliber Conversion Kit" or do i need to buy both? also for anyone that has one or knows how much time and effort does it take to change calibers?

The quickchange is the toolhead and the powder measure. No caliber specific parts.
What the quickchange gains is a preset toolhead full of dies and a powder measure.
The caliber conversion has the caliber related parts.
I aint rich enough either, but I own a 1050......
I can change calibers in about 30 minutes, a little less if im not changing primer size. Some guys seem to have a little more trouble changing calibers but I always enjoyed it.
Still there is a bit involved and you kind of plan your reloading around that. I usually try to reload a good ammount before changing over.
Once its going the stuff piles up pretty quick.
I had an extra tool head and ended up selling it

Brians site lists the toolhead as "required" for a caliber change and it is not.
Ive reloaded 45, 9, 40, and 223 with one toolhead
Caliber Conversion Requirements:
$102.95 - Caliber conversion kit
$244.95 - Quick-Change Toolhead (Includes Powder Measure)
$58.95 - Dies
$406.85 - NC Price

I can change calibers in my LnL in 30 seconds...
Oh yeah, and the cost is, what, $35 for the set of dies?? :yesnod:
No, I already HAVE the dies...
Oh crap, I forgot the big expense-$9 for the set of quick-change bushings...
I love my Hornady... :sifone:

This is all true, but the beauty of a 1050 has nothing to do with changing calibers, or money.
The hornady die changing system would probably be pretty nice on a 1050.

The 1050 can actually load 9mm Luger ammunition.

I've always thought Brian Enos was sort of a poser, and that "article" settles it.
