My first wheelgun- 41 mag

I just got my first revolver, a ruger blackhawk in 41 mag! I heard all the talk about them and had to see whats the deal for myself. Actually, when I went to pay for the ffl transfer, the guy at the counter asked if I was sure I hadn't bought a 44 mag, haha. I said 'yessir, I'm sure.'

I got a fairly good deal on it on funbroker and it finally came in tuesday. As far as I know, it is a model that doesn't have a lock, but I haven't actually checked yet.

I haven't gotten the chance to hit the range yet, still waiting on bullets/brass. This gun even has me thinking about casting my own bullets to get the exact weight/bullet that I want.
Heres a couple pics, one with my g19 for size comparison. I really like the feel of this gun, and I do believe I will really like it once I get some ammo loaded.

It also has me thinking about using it as a backup when piggy hunting this fall. :cornut:

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I cant freakin wait to shoot this sucker! My girlfriend even wants to hit the range with me, which is very unusual. When she first saw it she said "Ooo I like that cowboy gun" So maybe she'a get into shootin too. This is gonna get expensive haha.

If yall cant tell, I got me a digital camera yesturday too, so I'll be playin with that some more, be sure to get some range pics of my first outing. Thanks again yall.

Soon as my financial situation improves a lil bit, I get my arse back to Texas, I get some time to actually load again, I cast me some bullets for it (already got da moulds) I get some time off enough ta actually go ta a range, I find me some brass and I find me a deal on one.

One a my shootin buds kinda ripped me off last Tulsa. I was tellin him about a DW .41 mag in a real sweet condition I was gonna go back an pick up soon as da show opened.

I got off into a 5 way deal on a whole lotta stuff, got rid of a couple scopes, got some other stuff, traded some stuff third party two ways to get what I wanted outta everybody an everybody happy. Took about a hour an a half ta get everybody in on da trade ta swap stuff to one another, kinda like playin musical chairs wit some folks dat don't know each other but everybody came out good.

I got dat done, went back over to da table wit da DW .41 Mag, it's gone. So I figure snooze ya lose. About a hour later I find out my bud I was havin breakfast with, went straight to da table an bought dat DW while I was otherwise occupied in dat trade deal. Said I made dat .41 Mag sound pretty good so he went over ta look at it, decided ta buy it.

Dats OK, he don't load, so I'm still kinda thinkin dat one is gonna come my way in a trade soon as he find out sticker shock an local availability of .41 Mag ammo. I a wait him out, then give him a beat down on price cause he thank he run game on me ;)

Otherwise, I might find one in da mean time. I would really like a 57 or a 657, maybe a DA Ruger, but they don't come up too often.

That's too bad on the DW, I didn't really think Lonnie would do that to a friend, I never have trusted him. Next time you get a "deal" going I'd keep it to myself, especially around Lonnie. BTW, have you snookered him out of his 1050 yet?

The 41 mag is only a bad choice if you shoot factory ammunition.

Factory ammunition sucks!

Hi,

Congrats Werdna! I've got to say there is something special feeling about that 41mag blackhawk. I don't know what it is, but when I pick it up at the gunstore it has a perfect feel and balance.
