Got to go shooting for the first time in a LONG time. Better yet, my daughter wanted to go with me. She has been struggling with jacking the first round into the chamber of her MKIII. Well before we left the house I held the gun out with the butt facing her and told her to grab the action and pull it. Well low and behold she was able to pull the slide out and have it lock open. She gets this look on her face like why was it so difficult before. Sometime with kids, it just clicks one day. So Emily and I hit the range with a good friend of mine and we have the whole place to ourself. Now Em doesn't need my help at all, and even though her aim was a little off, she had the time of her life. She shot her MKIII for at least an hour before switching to the Henry .22 rifle. Before we left she was holding the G19 and looking at me and I could tell she wanted to know if it was ok to shoot that as well. I give her a thumbs up and off she goes. She put another 50 rounds through the Glock, says she has had enough for one day, pulls out her game boy and sits on the bench while I finish. After I was done she picked up all the brass while I packed the bags, and to finish the day out I took her out to dinner. Just the two of us. It don't get much better than that.
