First buying instinct when you go into a store?

Mine is to buy basic food staples and water. Not to mention plenty of useful stuff like batteries and TP. Ammo is getting lower and lower on my list...

because I roll my own!:biggrinjester:

Do be sure to get some dental and medical stuff too. Extra toothpaste and toothbrushes might well be valuable barter material.

clearance items, of some defineable utility, whether needed by me in particular, or not . :)

next, ammo, just CHECKING.. ;)

i don't buy water. it rains water, not food. next issue.

any food that's long term storable. (canned, mostly, some dry goods)

any food that's capable of being made long term storable.. dairy stuff (that I mostly freeze) and fruit (that I can) or vegetables (that I pickle)..

gadgets. i like gadgets, if they work. flashlights, mini lanterns, walkie talkies, hair clippers.. anything with a real job that is useful.

luxury food, hopefully cheap, hopefully not too perishable. chocolate, nuts, spices..

likely other stuff, that's first.

Ball Jars for canning
Canned goods
Hit the deli for meats to can
Batteries
Meds/First Aid isle... get a little of this and a little of that every time I go to the store.

If I go to walmart, I ALWAYS pick up a federal bulk pack of .22lr. I used to buy all the blazer brass .40 they had on the shelves until the jacked the prices way up. I still have a few cans of that put away for plinking loads. My handloads are all JHP Noslers for .40, Sierra MatchKings and Win FMJ for .223 and .308 with a few boxes of Soft Points mixed in. Win FMJs for 45acp, but I don't even own a .45 anymore... I load those up for my 'pop.

Dry Goods. Beans and rice, if I don't have any. ****-tickets, water containers. On the Rez and little town I live in, many folks buy similar stuff cuz it could be a month till shoppin' time comes.
What i need now?
batteries
beans
dry powdered eggs (USDA choice if possible)
another water container (5 gallon + clean 5 gal. buckets will do fine)
Solar Panels would be choice!

I'm about 2 hours + from Santa Fe. My folks live just outside of town and my old Behavioral Health job was based there, so I was always travelin' there. Espanola is a trippy town. Fine place to live if one stays out of trouble. Not a bad town, but a good town to be armed in. Shoot me a note when you'll be comin through. Maybe we could meet up for some Red or green chile enchiladas!
