Need to pull some bullets. What do you guys recommend? I have some 308 rounds that need to be dismantled. I don't want to damage the bullets (Sierra Matchkings).

The hammer type is probably your best bet for not damaging the bullets, how many??

About 150. Any brand more sturdy than the rest?

I have the Hornady Collet Puller. Damn good tool, IMHO.
If you set it up correctly, it is not only incredibly fast and easy but leaves no damage. Plus no powder spill.

Then you might get scratch marks. Set it for the tension that will just grab the bullet. I've pulled hundreds and only scratched a few of them.

About $10 for a kinetic hammer and put an ear plug in the bottom. Pristine bullets.

I use an RCBS kinetic hammer. I've got three different hammers and the larger the better. I would also get a few extra o-rings to hold the collet together in case you lose or break it. Smack on concrete for best results.
I would go with a collet puller if you are pulling Game Kings. The exposed lead seems to be very soft, and a kinetic type will most likely deform them. Heck, when I accidentally drop one while loading game kings, I deform the exposed lead.

What you got? Some Poonjab Poopers or Chilean 'Sploders?
ETA: Oh Sierra handloads. Dahyum, I was all worked up over the thought of bad .308, thought you might even have some TZ80 Splitters.

Hi,
I've got the Hornady, and I've pulled some rounds before. It works quite well on most bullets, but I've had some where it just doesn't want to grab them right. If you have any decent quantity, you will want a collet style puller.
Good luck,
Alan

Instead of the oring and collet, you can use the apropriate shellholder. As I don't have a single stage, this is the only use I have found for the shellholders :biggrinjester:

I have this machine that you load the cartridge into. You then pull a trigger and voilą the bullet and the case are no longer intact!

However when dealing with someone else's reloads and they tell you, "...these aren't safe to shoot..." I'd be concerned that my "machine" would no longer be intact should I follow your advise.
:)
BTW I found a Frankford Arsenal hammer puller. Wish me luck!!
