Freak,

I'm seeing some ads about supplies are drying up and BUY NOW! Is it really that bad yet or is it just marketing?

I have a friend with a stripped lower that he got a while ago and is now looking to complete the rifle. He's concerned about supplies and what kind of prices to expect.

Anybody else got thoughts on this feel free to respond.

How the hell could supplies being drying up, the election was two days ago! If any company wasn't prepared for this and doesn't have their warehouses busting at the seams with parts then it's their fault. You are going to see a lot of false backorders and price increases just to get fear and profit margins jacked up.

I'm looking at it this way right now. I'm gonna get a new lower to have around, maybe a .454, a Garand, and then concentrate on highpower stuff. I figure no ones gonna attack them quite yet. And really, I think I've got at minimum 2 years to get all the toys they might attack. There's too many other things they wanna work on before guns.

I'm starting to think that a ban won't come into play until Obama's 2nd term.

Oreo
11-06-2008, 03:05 PM
I think there's a reasonable chance he'll try to squeeze something like that in right up front just so he can bolster his position on claims of getting things done right from the start. With a strong dem majority it seems that an AWB would be easy legislation to enact quickly. It will get a lot of press & satisfy his libtard base that's salivating for a bone.

With that said, I'm thinking we've got a good 6 months at least. So, while panic buying isn't waranted, I think there's just enough time to handle your bidness quickly.

ISUSteve

Once Obama doesn't do what he got everybody excited about in the first term, they won't elect him again for a second. He won't do anything.

Oreo
11-06-2008, 03:15 PM
I think he will though. 'Cause in reality he doesn't have to do much. Congress will keep setting him up for the slam dunk. All he'll have to do is sign the paper. He'll have the luxury of blaiming all the worlds lasting problems on Dubya's legacy while he takes credit for everything that satisfies his base since. We may not like it but there are a lot of people who will love it even if it's only 'cause they don't know any better.

GLOCKENNBOOMER
11-06-2008, 03:21 PM
Oh, it's coming alright. Whatever they throw out there will get passed. It's just a matter of time. I just wonder if they are gonna call for confiscations of weapons that are already in the hands of people.....you know, eliminate the grandfather clause. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that as all of my stuff was sold or stolen over the years.

Oreo
11-06-2008, 03:53 PM

Oreo
11-06-2008, 03:57 PM
I'd bet on it. There's too many other attractive alternatives that carry less repercussions.

Taxation, banning new purchases, banning private sales, banning new ammunition sales, banning component sales, etc all effectively achieve the same thing.

GLOCKENNBOOMER

Examples of this panic buying frenzy.

RSR had 49 count each MSAR 20, 30, and 42rd mags in stock at 9pm on Election Day. Tuesday morning at 7am they were in the negatives on all capacities.

Spikes raised their lowers $80 overnight to $179 retail. They got pwned on ARF.

Double Star sold over a thousand lowers last week. They are out. More due 2-4 weeks.

CDNN is getting hit hard for mags.

DPMS uppers are 9-12 months out with some rifles being a year or more. They just put an order in for 10,000 lowers and have half of them sold already.

Oly Arms has a 90 day wait on any upper or lower. Rifles are 6-9 months.

A few companies are ceasing consumer direct sales and just going dealer direct.

As far as I go, it's affected me a bit. Demand on Del Ton kits had me raise my prices. I found another vendor that might work out. I'm looking to assemble my own uppers by month's end. I'm sold out of every lower I have. I no longer sell reloading equipment. I no longer sell or manufacture ammunition. Currently right now my focus is my AR15 rifles and pistols for California. My problem is I don't have rifles and pistols in stock on hand to ship out and people want in stock RFN.

Anyone want to borrow me $5,000 with 5% interest every month until it's paid off? After two or three of those I'm self sufficient and I'll have my own $5K in profits to reinvest and work with. I'm looking at trying to borrow against my Blazer on a collateral loan for even $2500.

If I had it Freak I'd damn sure let you borrow it!!!

It is just crazy the price increases already. Thank God I ordered my barrel & rest of the parts needed to finish my AR on election night!!!

I wish I could have afforded some 5.56 or .223 ammo before the election but couldn't. Least I got about 500 x .223 brass to work with.

About 200 of us on the local gun forum {Northeastshooters.com} got together this past spring and ordered either stripped or complete lowers with the NES logo laser engraved on the mag well. I spent $151 for one of the complete Anvil Arms Lowers and last month Bushmaster has a sale on the 24" SS complete uppers for $570. I still have to figure out what to get for optics but won't have alot invested for a decent "Varmit" gun or property defense rifle. When I put it together I'll post a picture of it. Buds is very competitive. They sell Saiga .223s for $309 shipped. Dealer is $287 and they (Russian American Armory) doesn't cut it down until you get 50 rifles. I asked. Hell, dealer prices with shipping is more than $309.

Stopped by a local shop near me. Shop had about 15 Bushmasters all starting at $1395 w/ flat top's & flip up sights....I stopped in at 2pm on Friday and he only had 3 left! He had 2 Colt's that went, including one pre-ban that he sold for $5800 (so I heard). The only AR's he had left was one Stag Left-handed (Model 2HL-T...the left-handed tactical one) for $1195 and 3 DPMS "Sportical's" for $750.

He also sold his 3 UT-15's from Wilson's and was placing 3 other UT-15 orders while I was there. It was insane!!

He also had new Trijicon ACOG scopes in and they were flying off the shelves for $1495 each!! I like ACOG's, but they are overkill for the civilian market!

Anyway. Thought I'd share with you the insanity of the Northeast (and by the way, I'm working with Freak on getting an AR...he's the bomb!)

From my understanding 'twas a registered pre-ban Colt 6950 (?) with selective fire (don't know the RLL or RDIAS acronyms). Personally, don't know the Connecticut laws on that one, but it apparently went out the door. The whole pre-ban/post-ban regulations are a very fuzzy area for me (at least until I actually take the time to read them in-depth).

Even the other AR's, the Bushmasters seemed high, and the Stag Arms & Trijicon ACOG sights were all $300 over the online price I've seen.

Pre ban 86 is what it seems for that price range. Seems like at least 10 years ago or so when prices were around 5-6K for an M16.

If it is in fact a MG, there's no way it could have gone out the door in one day, a Form 4 takes at least a month, unless the Form 4 just came back and the guy was picking it up, which is possible.

$5800 for a select fire AR is way low. That's a lower end price for a RLL (registered lighting link, conversion of AR to Full auto only, with no change of parts), I'm wondering if someone needed money and made him a deal. It could also have been a pre 86 dealer sample going to another SOT.

RDIAS is registered drop in auto sear, which uses the same M16 FCG as a GI sear gun, but doesn't require milling and drilling to install the GI sear, hence the term drop in.

could be. Not all that sure. All I know is when I was there, guy had just picked it up and paid the balance. Rest is conjecture and open to interpretation.

As for me, having trouble finding an FFL to get one of Freak's AR's. Nobody seems to want to transfer an out-of-state firearm if they can sell one of theirs off the shelves.

Although I do have a good offer on a complete lower. It's a Stag complete lower w/ 6 position stock (it's actually pinned due to CT state laws) for $200 (plus 6% CT tax). Not such a bad deal and it's here (ie: no transfer or wait).
