That is a right purty levergun.

Is the .32 H&R rifle technically a medium bore rifle?

I haven't run down one of the Marlin 32 Magnum leverguns, having lever rifles in 32-20 and 30 Carbine already. I haven't even seen one to date.

One thought occurred to me, though--and maybe someone has an answer. The tube feed on the 32 Magnum levergun is like that on the Model 39A rimfire, NOT a receiver-based spring-loaded gate. IF the 32 Magnum levergun is based on a 39A action, I might be hesitant to get creative with loadings for the rifle like Slick has with the SP-101.

My guess would be that if Marlin chambers a 327 Federal levergun, it would be in a Model 94 platform. Cartridge OAL and pressures prompt that belief.

It is discontinued now I hear and even when it was in the marketplace they were asking over 700 bux for it, a figure I thought to be preposterous.
It will be interesting to see how the new 327FEDMAG fairs in the lever action marketplace. Since that little booger has a peak pressure of 45M PSI and most, but not ALL, leverguns have pressure ceilings well under that we'll have to wait and see. It mat be entirely possibe because of the low bolt thrust from the 327's small case head that it'll work fine in a " modern " levergun like a '94 Marlin. This is the very reason why UBERTI can make their ' 73 replica Winchesters in 357MAG.

If it can handle the .357, it can handle the .327.

A "gateless" 94 action--I'll be darned.

The thought of a 357 Magnum in a '73 Winchester action just scares me spitless. No way in hell I'd try that.

I bought a new/used CIMARRON ' 73 rifle for Christmas last year. We shot it for the first time last tuesday. It handled like a charm, was accurate as all gittout, and the factory W-W 158GR JSP's went through it like phitt through a goose.
Do NOT lose sight of the fact these UBERTI rifles and carbines had to pass CIP proof [ SAAMI here...] like any other gun made in Europe. CIP proof runs a bit higher in pressure than our SAAMI specifications here.

I hear ya, Will. I'm sure the Uberti/Cimarron '73s can handle the loads, I'm just reflecting on my own original '73 in 44-40, and that the knee-action mechanism doesn't inspire faith in its baseline strength. Of course, when I got into the game in the early 1970's--I NEVER thought I would see J-frame S&Ws in 357 Magnum, either. Technology does advance, esp. metallurgy. Even if my comfort level doesn't.

It does kinda work that way don't it.

That's a dose of reality for ya ;)

I look at any gun out there.

If I can find brass, I a consider it if I like the caliber.

If your wanting a 32 you can still get 32-20's for 500 to 600 on gunbroker. Its not the cowboy though. 1894CL. I have been thinking about one but I just don't like the 1894 action. I don't like the way it feels or looks. I was talking with Cimarron and they said they were probably going to introduce their 1892 in 38-40 and 32-20 next year. If they do that I know where my money is going. I love my Navy Arms 357.

As a kid I always wanted a 30-30 lever - guess that's why I love my '55 1894 so much. And yes - it is immaculate.

The hyphenated Winchester short rounds (25-20, 32-20, 38-40, 44-40) are not as interesting to CAS folks as the straight-wall calibers like 32 Mag, 357 Mag, 44 Mag, 45 Colt. The straight-walls can be loaded with carbide sizer dies (no case lube) and are less prone to die crumpling than the thinner hyphenated Winchester brass. Starline 32-20 brass is significantly stronger than are R-P and W-W makes.
