Hey all,

After our normal IPSC match last night (I came in 7th out of 21 shooters...gettin' there!) a few of us stuck around and a fellow shooter broke out his new XD(M) 9mm and his Bushmaster AR15 with a Spikes Tactical .22lr upper on it and a Aimpoint holo-sight. What a blast!

We ran the same IPSC course (had us shooting through 2 windows, around 2 barricades and under a table) with the Bushy. For some guys, it was there first time handling an "assault" weapon. They were grinnin' ear-to-ear!

Then I had a chance to run his new XD(M). That gun flat out points well! First run my hits were low/right, but then I got a feel for it and the next stage they were A/B zone (still a tad low on the second shot). We didn't muck around with the backstraps, but it definitely felt good. The new 9mm has 19rds in the mag. Not bad. My buddy is going to use it in his 3-gun matches.

Has me now itchin' to try out the XD(M) in .40 to see how it runs. Anyone else have a run with one yet?

Cool!

How did the XDM trigger feel? I remember not liking the old XD trigger much. I know the XDM is supposed to have a new trigger though.

Bet that .22 AR was freakin fun to shoot too.

A friend of mine has a full auto AR with a .22 conversion and it doesn't get much more fun than that.

I handled an XDM40 but as it was new never shot it. I have shot an XD45 and they definitely torque more than a Glock as the slide sits higher.

Can probably write your name on the target with that thing :slick::gun_bandana:

It has some form of optics on it that I can't remember, but the green laser pointer is probably more fun. Spend a couple of minutes loading the 30rd mag, then zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzip, start loading it again.

The trigger was nice. My G35 trigger is better, but then again, I did alot of work to it myself. With some work, the XD(M) would be great. For a straight up production gun, though...it ain't bad.

The AR is absolutely freakin' fun! Only downside is you shoot the 30 round mag's so fast and the take a little while to load back up!

AM-180, a true dedicated .22 subgun, fun times.

I have an XDM .40 that I use in Limited in USPSA (21+1 at the start) and the trigger is slightly better than the original XD but it still needed a canyon creek job done on it.... it's about 2.5#'s now and is just about as nice as my G22 trigger.

That is probably the top of my "lotto list" for guns. Would you settle for a M11/9 with AM-180 mag conversion?

I've read about the AM 180 conversion for the M11, but truthfully I haven't kept up with the details, so I can't say one way or the other.

I shot a few rounds out of an XDM40. I noticed the relatively high bore axis (compared to Glock). It felt like any other XD trigger, but I don't have much feel/experience with them.

What type of mag extensions did you use to get to the 21 rounds? Did you swap out the sights? What else did you do to it to run in Limited?

Sorry for all the questions, but I really liked the XD(M) and may look into getting and I like to price out all the extra's so I know the total package cost before I purchase.

Thanks,
Z-

No problem, I changed the front sight to a Dawson F.O. and left the rear sight but I blacked out the white dots with a paint pen (I like a low, fixed rear). I use Arredondo mag extensions with a modified grams follower the mag will hold 20 easily but the other round took some filing on the follower and leaving the mags loaded for several weeks. I also use a pistolgear.com unlimited magwell, springer precision steel guide rod with 1911 springs, extended mag release and I had my local gunsmith do a trigger job on it that was a canyon creek copy. I like the combo and I like the gun as well, it's very fast with minor and not bad at all with major. I'm leaving some bbl length on the table with the 4.5" vs all the 6" guns around here but I'm also 1/4 of the price too :).

My XD 45 is my sweat lodge gun.

My buddy shoots a XD and I tried it the other day. I liked everything except the finger guard. It had no room for my hand under the guard. They say the XDm is better in that regard. Any comments?
