At around 6 Am. this morning Illinois Govenor Rod Blagojevich and his Chief of Staff John Harris were taken into custody by the FBI. The Govenor was taken into custody at his Chicago home.
It should be interesting to watch this one play out. Maybe former Govenor George Ryan will intervene. Opp's, I forget he's in prison too.http://www.combatcarry.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/vol_1/rofl.gif

Looks like he will have to give up his firearms once convicted.

It is a little embarassing to be an Illinois resident right now. Blago's been accused of attempting to sell our President Elect's Senate seat to the highest bidder. Was this seat purchased before? We will never find that out.
He was released on a $4,500.00 Personal Recog. Bond. Petty criminals draw a higher bond then that.

That must suck, being a sitting governor, being arrested, and being powerless to stop it.
Every once and a while, it's nice to see the Feds own a criminal.

I find this interesting.
Can one branch of Gov. arrest another branch?
Or is this more of the Federals, able to arrest State officials?

If the IL governor was selling narcotics on a street corner in Chicago, the Chicago PD could arrest him, no man is above the law, Fed, state or local.

Interesting idea about what if Obama paid for his seat originally. I say they waterboard the Governor and get to the bottom of it.

On another Obama note, SCOTUS rejected the challenge to Obama's natural born status for the purposes of election POTUS.

Firing squad if they convict him. Too much corruption!

I bet we will find out if he sold the position to BO.
Nothin like having a crooked self serving politician in the position to sing a little to save his own skin ;)
I bet he'll cut a deal with the feds in an instant if he helped BO get the senate position.
What a career move of the fed prosecutor. He'd be on a box of Wheaties in every household in America if he nailed BO for dealing with corrupt Gov to get the senate seat he held while running for pres.

When state officials commit federal crimes, they are arrested by federal authoritiies and visa versa.

Now that would make for some interesting politics since BO's "high crimes" wouldn't have occurred while he was President and so in addition to not likely being an impeachable offense, I believe any federal charges against him would have to wait until after he was out of office.
