A friend knows a guy who has/had one for sale. I'd never heard of them before. What's the story of the 500?

:hearye:what a cool smiley.

The AT-500 was a stripped-down Rl550. No primer feed system, you manually set a primer in the cup prior to seating. No powder measure, it has a funnel in the top of the powder die so you can pour weighed/scooped charges in, and the shellplate has 4 different sized cutouts, so a top plate blocks the 3 unused ones. Think of it as a turret machine, but can be upgraded to a full 550B by added the various subassemblies. We still sell them, but discontinued advertising them several years ago.

Don't forget, Dillon is going to hit you with an upgrade cost, ANeat, might be cheaper to buy a 550.

I wouldnt upgrade it; I got a 550, I always like the idea of the 500, just never got around to getting one.

I have thought about getting the AT500 shell plate for my 550.

I always wondered why Dillon never made something comparable to a Rockchucker, Big Boss, Lee whatever single stage, but I think Mogollon answered it one day on GT that it just wouldn't be worth it. At SW the other day I was comparing the Big Boss, LnL, Lee, and a Rockchucker and man the Big Boss has em all covered on heft and quality. Sure would be nice to have a single stage in Phord blue though.

Sorry, no pics available. The shellplate is identical to any other RL550 shellplate, except each cutout for a case is of a different size.
There are three AT-500 shellplates available; the standard plate has a #1, #2, #3 and #5 cutout.
The Cowboy shellplate has a #4, #7, N and C cutouts.
The rifle shellplate has a G, B, and I am no sure on the other two.

A multi size shell plate would kick ass for odd projects.

A blue turret press, now that's something interesting! I just thought it was completely out of production, but this has opened up new doors if you can still get it. I like the idea of the multi size shell plate, and the powder funnel if you're using an automatic powder measure like a Chargemaster.

I will post the price Monday when I am back at work. Think it is in the $240-260 range.
