How much of a difference would they be from a 357 mag load?

Usually about 5 or 6 cents per round......

Just curious cuz I can pick up some 38 +p cases for a decent price to reload for my 686

I've been on a fast powder kick with .357 lately.

Loading start charges of Titegroup with either 125's or 158's.

Even at start the 125 loads are running about 300 fps above most safe +P 38 loads.

The 158's run maybe 100 fps faster than the 38 +P but most likely at lower pressures.

I can't remember the last time I loaded any of my 357's with 38 specials.

I don't like the fouling ring I get in the cylinder from shooting 38 spl in my .357, so I reserve 38's for................the 38.

A happy circumstance I failed to mention.

Well, don't pooh-pooh the deep penetrative power of a heavy 158-gr bullet fired at +P velocities from a .38 case. Oh, and BTW you don't need to have .38-Special cases marked "+P" to safely load .38-Special +P reloads.

The only possible advantage to loading +P loads in cases marked +P is that you have less chance of stuffing your higher pressure loads in a gun that shouldn't get them.

There is immense written proof to substantiate what I'm saying.

From Starline's webpage...

"38 SPL+P has no difference from the standard 38 SPL, other than headstamp designation for load segregation. Due to standard case design, will handle +P pressures with no problems".
