I had a chance to try my scoped MkIII Hunter today. At 25 yards from an improvised rest, I got groups around 1". Best was 1.10" with SK Match. CCI Pistol Match was almost as good, but may do better with a better rest. Either is minute of squirrel at that range. I like the way the gun shoots, but the trigger is horrible.

I tried out several different loads for my S&W 22A with Millett dot sight. Aguila Golden Eagle Match Rifle did the best; the target in the picture is 50 shots at 25 yards. That's 1.42", which is as good as I have done off sandbags with my 54 year old eyes. I chronographed some loads the other day and found the Aguila Match Rifle to be the most consistent of any I tried (Mexican ammo, who knew?). Might be something to try out some time but it sounds like you have a good setup with what you are running now.

Aguila Golden Eagle Match Rifle
Average velocity 931.2
Extreme Spread 40.03
Standard deviation 11.18

Remington Target 22
AV 865.7
ES 144.7
SD 46.38

Winchester T22 Target
AV 873.7
ES 210.0
SD 69.49

Federal Auto Match
AV 979.9
ES 173.8
SD 55.25

I have 6 bricks of the Golden Eagle and 8 of the Super Extra from Aguila. I'll try them next. The CMP had both at a decent price.

A lot of guys shoot the Aguila in bullseye. Its good stuff. Wolf, CCI Standard are all popular.

Targets at 50 yards will really help pick the kinds that your gun likes.

Guns like the Ruger will usually shoot quite a few brands/types under 2" at 50 yards. A couple may get under 1.5 inches.

i use CCI blazer, if you want to try some really good ammo try some eley tenex, but i'll bet it's out of your price range.

Aguila is Eley primed and they are pretty much top of the line for .22 ammo. After you get past the primer of a rimfire case there really isn't much else to work with to be consistent.

When you can find 'em. I haven't seen Dynapoints in forever, Kmart used to sell them, but once again, I haven't seen a Kmart in forever, except for the one I stopped at in Rome, GA to buy laundry soap on a lay over (and I did look, no Dynapoints to be had).

Odd, Kmart in Rome almost always has them. They sold all their CCI Mini Mags for $5 per box of 100 last summer. A buddy and I helped them get rid of them.

Must have got them at a bad time. I was in Rome in late Oct on my last trip down to GA. I was on one of my usual five hour a night sleep patterns, I could have missed 'em.

They did have a bunch of 20 GA target loads for a good price. $3.69/box or something. I thought about buying 'em, but I really don't need anymore 20 GA.

Midway used ta have em, I used ta get mine at Wally World for $8/brick. Got almost a full brick left, dat a be gone when my nephrews come to DFW again.

Haven't seen any for sale other than gun shows in about a year, all $20/brick an up. I refuse ta pay dat much, prolly hafta change my mind about dat, or shoot somethin else soon as I run out

Dick's had some around Christmas here in South Bend, I think it was a one time deal though. $19.99, must be the market price these days.

I didn't know Kmart sold any ammo anymore.

You have been in the Rome, GA Kmart more times than I have in the last 3 years.

And I can see the sign from my neighborhood if I walk up the hill for a block and look over the river.

I couldn't find a Wal-Mart and I was to tired to look for one, Kmart was right down the road from the hotel.
