I have a S&W PD 45 ACP which I like very much !

That said, it is my first and only 1911-type gun.
I owe various other brands of guns, mostly Glocks, and rifles and never had any problem to take them apart, even much further then field stripping.

Now, I must confess that the reassembling of the 1911 remains a frustrating act for me:banghead: .

Anybody know of a link to a well illustrated website on the subject ?
Or maybe the magic trick on how-to-do ?

Not for a S&W.

1911s, on the other hand, are simple.

What's so hard about it? All you have to do is learn to control the recoil spring plunger as you remove the barrel bushing. The rest is cake.

As I said, taking apart is NOT the problem !

It is putting it back together that makes me loose my temper (sometimes :incazzato:)

after watching the video on YouTube I must say that the operator there is getting as much frustration as I do . I need someone to help me do it better then that !!!

and the S&W PD is not the same but the great lines remain.

For me, the most difficult thing is dealing with a tight bushing. If the bushing turns under finger pressure, the gun is a joy to disassemble. If it needs a wrench, watch out.

Another thing to consider is a Wlson Combat slide stop. It has a groove machined on it's face and makes reinstallation a breeze.

I don’t know about the S&W PD but putting a 1911 together is easy. The only thing I worry about is putting an idiot scratch on the side of the slide. The guy who made that video should have re shot the video when he made mistakes, because it makes it more difficult for you to figure out where the mistakes are.

I have a series of 1911 videos that I pulled off of Youtube last year to put disclaimers on and never got around to putting back up. They include field strip, reassembly, detail strip frame, detail strip slide, Function check, disconnector theory and operation, and grip and thumb safety theory and operation. I will start putting disclaimers on them and will try to start posting them tonight.

I may be able to post one a night since I am working on the house every night after work for the next few weeks. I currently have my living room floor completely torn up to the floor joists. I want to finish straightening them out and put the plywood back on before the weekend.

If Big Slick wants to host them here we can do that too.
