Have any of you ever come upon a gun accessory that was just absolutely useless? What about on the other end of the spectrum...ever found something that was better than sliced bread?
In the useless category is the buffer for my AK. Thing never had a problem until I installed the buffer on it.
In the useful category would have to be nightsites on my Glock. Work great for their intended purpose.

I bought a red-dot for my Buckmark. I was good without it, but man, that thing is awesome! Making 100 yard hits offhand with a 22 pistol is easy with that thing.
Useless: Pink paint.

I have an Advantage Arms .22lr kit for the G23. It's not USELESS, but if I had to do it over again I think I would have just gotten a P22 instead.

Those are mandatory in my book. They should come with the gun.

I have a beefy side mount with a cheapie NcStar on it. Illuminated and everything. I don't know what I was thinking.

Dat Chinese AK mag loader for stripper clips is fun to watch in inaction. Those cheap 20 an' 30 round SKS magazines that fail to work fun to watch too. Look good wid all dat tacticoolery though.

Dat Bianchi thigh attachment system for the military holsters look good in the ads, flops aroun' like a carp what been tossed on the bank to die in actual use though. Looks tacticool, so it's nice for cruisin the gunshows an' impressin' the range ladies.

Not unless I can find a nice P22 for the same price. I spent just a few bucks more on it than a new P22 cost at the time. The gunshow had a sale on them.

Most useful for me are Night sites and Glock mag loaders.
Most useless was the 20 round permanent mag I got for my Russkie SKS back in the 90s (the 30 round detachable one actually works perfect....but just don't look right).
Also any mag made by Triple K.

There's an automotive company with that name that makes performance parts. Can't buy from them. I guess I'm closed minded.

Does my Dillon 650 count as a shooting accessory?
seriously there is a really cool AK mount...http://scoutscopes.com/gallery.html
But is this the best...?
OK these may not count but i really love my Chronograph, shot timer and brass catcher http://www.shootingchrony.com/
and
http://www.competitionelectronics.com/pages/pocket_pro_II.html
and
http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=112864
This may seem silly but at one point I bought a "detective" upper for my Browning FN. It has not come off since I bought (save to clean)
http://www.sarcoinc.com/fm-hipower1-new.html#6 It only shaves about any inch off the barrel length but it really improves the handling characteristics (in my opinion)
Does a scope count?
I really love my Trijicon scope on my M4-gery. I wish I could afford 3 more.

Does my gun leather count?
Mostly Kramer and galco
as for things I wasted my money...
scope mount for my Enfield Ishapore. Would not hold a zero then it broke.
30 round mags for my 10/22
pistol lanyard
Drop leg holster for my Mark 23 (ok the whole weapon system was a waste of time and money, I sold it and have never regretted it)

Most useful vote: electronic hearing protectors rank right up there.

Useless
HellFire trigger system (Yes, I was an idiot)
Zytel magazines (for SKS, at least)
Forster hollow point attachment for case trimmer
Mica case neck lube
Pearce grip extension for Glock (A qualified useless; one day I looked closely at one of the three I had and noticed that it had pulled slightly away from the lip on one side of the magazine. I gave it a slight twist and the entire magazine vomited into my hand. The other two looked ok, but I was leery of them so took them off. A better solution is A&G spacer, see above.)

Just came across a Fobus paddle holster that I only use when hunting. Since I don't go hunting that much, I rarely use the holster.
What SUCKS is banging my elbow against the gun when it's riding that high.
Nothing funny about the funny bone.

The most useless thing I've bought for a gun is a Leapers receiver scope mount for an SKS=MOBarn@50yrds.
The most useful items for the gun enthusiast (should be sold in a kit)
drywall patch, caulk, wood putty and paint.
In case of unintentional projectile deviation
:blush5:. Still not ready to talk about that one....

Speaking of night sights, I finally got some for my g19 about a month ago and feel retarded for not having them all along. MAN these things rock, for real.
As for useless, prolly the hi-cap sks mags that came with my rifle. Those made good target practice because they darn sure didn't feed worth a crap.

Actually, studies have found that their is a direct correlation between where the barrel is pointing at ignition and point of impact.

Boresighters are meant to get you on paper at 25 or 50 yards, not at 100 yards. One shot at 25, one or two at 50, then move it to 100 and get to work.

Most useful: Bore snakes. I have one for each one of my guns. Makes cleaning ever so easy.
Useless: Probably the most useless was a 33 round Glock after market mag I bought at a gun show for $15.99 one time. In my own defense this was when I first got into guns. I couldn't even get it to load properly...wouldn't fit correctly into the mag well...etc...etc.
Didn't feel comfortable selling it to some other poor sucker so I took my cut off wheel to it and then disposed of said piece of garbage.

I can pull the bolt , eyeball down the barrel on a bench rest . It gets me on the paper at 50yds , why would I spend $ 50 - $200 to get the same or worse ?
That's my point ---- I does not meet up to expectations !

I was disappointed in mine. I thought I'd be spot on at 25 yards and bit off at 50 and 100. Not the case.
