Load Request: .40sw, WSF, 180gr GoldDot HP

Just as the title says, I'm looking for a recommended load in .40s&w using WSF and 180gr GDHPs. I've got plenty of target fodder already so these will primarily be SHTF loads.

I do have a pound of longshot if anyone finds that powder to be particularly superior to WSF with 180gr GDHPs. But I was planning on saving the longshot for 10mm loads with the same bullets.

My Standard Go To "Plinker" Load with WSF is 4.4gr of WSF Under a 180gr Lead Bullet. Nice Soft Shooter. 750ish avg over the Chrono

I would Run then a Little Harder for SHTF Loads Tho'

Hmm... well I'm getting some conflicting data... Hodgdon's site says 5.4-5.7gr. I've seen a couple other places say 6.2gr is a decent load, and Steve's pages say up to 6.6gr! Now, 6.5gr is a full house w/165 grain bullets, let alone 180gr GDs. All that data is for XTPs though.

Anyway, I ran a load work-up batch of 5.5-6.5gr, 5rds each in .1gr increments. So I guess I'm gonna find out where the limit is.

Could have sworn I saw at least one site that had some data for GDHPs...

6.1 gr Unique is a good SHTF/zombie stopper load under a 180 JHP. Sorry, haven't tried WSF yet.

Hmm... that's still useful Koski thank you. WSF & Unique loads aren't that far apart in .40 from everything I've seen. It also jives with the 6.2gr load I've been seeing.

FPS wise my Reduced Loads Over my Chrono...
3.8gr of Unique = 4.4gr of WSF (750'ish avg)
WSF is somewhat slower Burn wise.

I have Loaded 5.0gr under a 165JHP and it "Feels" a Lil warmer then the Above Load but .......dunno for sure,I have never Chrono'd the 165gr load.

I have never Ran WWB Factory Ammo over my Chrono because I started reloading before I bought my Chrono. I have not Bought Factory Ammo in about 2 years. (Except .22's)
