Good choice. Call back and make sure it's the newer version with the EZJect system.
What else do you need besides a Shell plate ?You won't need anything else but dies and a couple wrenches. If you're reloading 2 calibers, an extra set of 5 die rings is a good idea though.
Will Lee dies work ?Yes, assuming that you have at least these 3 in a set:
- Decap/resize die
- Expander Die
- Seat/Crimp Die
Now, if it's not an EZject model (just came out last month) and has an ejection wire, you'll have problems crimping in station 5. If it's the newer model (or if you only have 3 dies), you'll not have problems there at all.
Do I need a special die for the powder measure ?No, unless you want to drop powder and expand in the same station. I don't do this, as it's just a bit annoying to switch over calibers - i expand in station 2 and charge in station 3. If you decide you just HAVE to try it, I'll let you borrow a part that will let you do this for 9mm and you can decide if you like it.
And last but not least could someone give me the Shell plate no. for 45 auto and 9mm ?
9mm = #8
45 ACP = #45
Here's a chart:

Hope that helps. :)

EDIT : Thorn beat me to it!!! :)
Alright, lemme take a shot at this...
1. Shell plate and dies are what you need to get cranking for any caliber. The LNL AP comes with errything else you gonna NEED.
2. Lee dies will work, except for the crimp die, usually in station 5. A Lee FCD will hit the ejection wire. There might be a way around it, but I haven;t hard of it. I use a Hornady crimp die which steers clear on the ejection wire.
3. Do not need a special die for powder drop. The LNL comes with a case activated powder measure/rotor/hopper unit which seats down into the powder drop die (also included). The stock rotor works fine for pistol, although many opt to get the pistol specific rotor. Is it necessary? No. Will it give you more consostant pistol powder drops? Possibly. I have used both and don;t see a big difference in measurment accuracy. Both work very well.
4.
45 Auto - Shellplate 1 (there's another one fro .45 Auto, but I cant rememeber, my #1 has been flawless).
9mm - Shellplate 8
Dan, please weigh in and correct any mistakes and add what ever I forgot please.
CONGRATS BILL!!!!! I think your gonna love it. :yesnod:

I have to get to bed, real quick:
#1 shell plate for 45
#8 for 9x19
Get Redding Pro Series dies from Grafs with dealer discount. In a progressive these are the slickest dies I have ever seen. Coupled with lubed brass, they are sweet. I dare say better than sex.
Lee dies work alright, but they are a bit short to get into the tool head completely. As such, you may have trouble locking them in place.
Regarding powder funnels, there is a fix in the works, stay tuned.
Look over the information in the new reloading section and stickies, Bhawkeye and myself put together a common FAQ.

Get a spare shell plate spring band & primer slide ( I don't have the p/n handy ) . Get a taper crimp die for the .45 if its not in the dies set .
Some of the cheaper dies don't have the threaded body length for progressive machines . I like the Dillon dies for their tough de-priming pins - easy clean design - carbide ring . They are a bit more , go read about them at Dillon precision .com . (http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/content/p/9/pid/24445/catid/4/Dillon_Carbide_Pistol_Dies__Three_Die_Sets_)
Your gona love that press.
According to my last conversation with Hornady a couple weeks ago you should be receiving an EZject model. Make sure when you order your shell plates that they're the new ones in plastic boxes and not in the old white cardboard boxes.
You don't NEED the Powder-Through-eXpander (PTX) but it is nice for loading pistol brass, and it's sold sepparately. Some folks aren't happy with the flare the hornady PTX gives but mine works well in .40 (even w/lead bullets.) It's not that expensive if you decide to try it.
A grease gun will come in handy. The press has zerk fittings on all the moving parts and likes a shot of lube during your initlal setup.
Thanks Guys !
I hope they really had them in stock .
Last night they did today I look and they are out of stock .
Did not get a confirmation e-mail yet .
Bill
T his is not the Hornady PTX Die is it ?

Bill, do not buy the OEM powder funnel, it sucks.
Sorry so far I am confused .
If I want to expand and charge use the part Monte linked .
( and is that the part P99 is saying not to get ? )
Then you can put a powder cop die after that .
I have not even unpacked the press yet .
I hope there is some decent directions with it .
Thanks Bill

Here's the deal, Bill. Hornady's current design sucks, it barely bells enough to get a jacketed bullet in the case, using lead with crush the case or shave lead and result in deformed rounds.
Currently, there's some stuff going on behind the scenes at Hornady. I can't say more, the lawyers tell me otherwise if you catch my drift.
According, until something changes, you either have to run jacketed with the OEM design, or use a seperate expanding die in the third station, you won't be able to use a powder check die in this event.
Hornady's instruction manual also sucks. I'm going to email you my cell phone, call me if you need help. I keep odd hours, you can call me anytime. If I'm sleeping, I need about 10 minutes to get coherent.

Best thing you can do is run Brakclean or similar through the powder measure. I had issues till I did. For .45, I'm using lee dies with a Hornady Crimp die. My measure throws, without extra parts, to a +-.1 grn.
+a bunch on getting extra bushings. I should have, but I only really load for one caliber right now.
^ +1 to all that. You'd do well to take that whole powder dispensing system apart down to ever last individual piece. Flush everything with brake cleaner & wipe it all down before reassembling. Lube with powdered graphite. You'll save yourself a ton of headaches trying to get consistent powder throws.

Just sing 70's pop love songs to him softly. It helps him wake up.
I am not getting rid of my Loadmaster .
Got two and like them .
Sounds kind of funny but I feel like I am cheating on them
by buying the LNL. :21:

- Don't get brake cleaner on the plastic hopper. And don't try to take the hopper off - it's not meant to be a user-removable thing.
- Or just don't use brake cleaner. Hornady OneShot is excellent stuff. Brake cleaner is just horrrrrrrrrible. ;)

I got brake cleaner on my hopper. Still works.

I did not know I couldn't take the hopper off. It got washed with rubbing alcohol.
Mine comes off. I don't think it's supposed to but it does.

It will come off, but Bob @ Hornady recommended to me that I not try; he implied it would loosen up in a way not intended, and to use a patch with alcohol to get to the bottom of the funnel if needed.
