This is mostly a metallic cartridge reloading forum, but I've noticed that some of the handloaders here do occasionally load shotshells. Quite often, I need all of my bench space for other things, and some permanently located items end up being in the way - and have to be unbolted and removed. This type of base is very stable and makes your shotshell loader moveable - even portable. You can push it to the back of your bench where it's out of the way, or move it onto the coffee table in front of the TV - like I do when Mrs. xtm is out of town. :)
A neighbor threw out a like-new section of kitchen counter top. I cut off a 16"x22" piece and framed it with some pine milling using a miter box. I drilled two sets of holes to fit the bases of both types of MEC reloaders I have on hand - Versa-mec and Sizemaster. It has rubber feet screwed to the bottom of each corner to keep it in place as you pull the lever. The framing not only makes the base look nice, but is handy for containing any shot or powder spills.
The second photo shows a small closet where I keep a lot of my reloading equipment that gets used intermittently. There are 4 shotshell loaders and bullet casting items hanging on hooks in the back wall and out of the way until I need them. All of this equipment can be taken out and made operational in a few minutes.
