So something bad happened.

New part is on the way, but I'm impatient and want to remove the busted one now. So I figure I have to take at least one link arm off to get the crank (broken part) off, but I can't figure out how to get the link arm pins out (the things that attach the DILLON embossed arms to the main press body). They look like they just punch out, but moderate force doesn't budge them and I want to double check before I start wailing on it.

Yeah, I know, call Dillon, but they're closed and I have OCD. :driving: (smiley unrelated)

Thanks.

Why did it break???? I have the same press and may need to order extra parts if that is a weak link in the press..

I think I eat too much spinach.

Honestly, I don't know why it broke, I only noticed it because priming felt weird. I don't think this is common, I wouldn't bother with keeping spare parts around, but that's me and I'm waiting for some mail right now

It does happen.

This one let go at about 80k a couple or three years ago.

You will need to remove both arms, lube em while you're in there.

You will get a alignment tool kit with a pin to use to drive out the pivot pin. It's the long pin that looks like a big nail in the pic. The thing that looks like a powder funnel isn't. It is used to align the shell plate on the ram properly so everything lines up right.

Here's the instructions if ya wanna get started ahead of time :

Geez, I thought it would take at least 11 minutes before someone completely answered all my questions, including step by step instructions with pictures. :yikes:

Thanks man. :coolgleamA:

cast part is subject to breakage easier than forged or milled parts...no doubt..

Thanks for the post...any information shared is good for this site...
