Hi Everyone,

I was going to stop at 500, but I had 32 more pieces of brass so I forged ahead.

Took me 3 hours, but I'm no speed demon, I take my time and watch everything...

Thanks,

Alan

I did about 200 rounds like that. Some 44 mag 300 grainer hard cast on top of a fat load of H110.

Out of my Super Black Hawk Bisley stainless (5 inch barrel) the kick was so God damn bad that after about 40 rounds my wrist was sore for a month.

Making ammo is fun. Just be sure it's ammo you can actually shoot up.

Hi,

Thanks everyone. Plan to shoot them in a 44 Alaskan, but not all at once!

I case gauged em' all and post weighed them. All rounds fell between 375 and 378 grains with most being 376 or 377.

My load is VV N110 21.0 grains with some Hornady 240gr CL-SIL a local guy was unloading, CCI Large Mag Primer, Starline Brass. Shoots about 1225 fps out of my Alaskan's short 2.5" barrel.

Thanks,

Alan

The alaskan is a really good choice for hot 44 mag. My SBH might have felt better to shoot if it had some comfy rubber grips.

You are SO right Anvil. I bought a SBH last week (was gonna sell something to fund it). Short 4 5/8" barrel, stainless, very pretty. I liked it until I shot it next to the Alaskan. It had way more felt recoil and was either biting my hand from the lower grip corner or knuckle knocking me depending on where I put my support hand. I was surprised, it just didn't fit me at all. Sold it at a $100 loss. Really made me appreciate what a fun gun the Alaskan is. I guess I could look at the $100 as a rental fee, but it a hurt a bit thinking of the components I could bought with it. I've got the smaller fixed sight GP grips on my Alaskan and it really fits me well with them.

Thanks,

Alan

Sharp looking. But where's the clutter and chaos associated with a loading bench? Maybe it's just me.

A fireman came to me yesterday complaining that he can't shoot any of his four boxes of 44 mag because there ain't none to replace it with. Wait til I show him your pictures.

Post the pics! Just make them close-ups so they look as impressive as the .44 Mags. :)

No joke. I just had to build a shelf last weekend because when I got everything out on my bench I couldn't find anything...I am the worlds worst for taking out a tool and not putting it back...so bad that I will have 2-3 of the same tool for when I cant find the first one.

For the amount of powder in those rounds you could probably load about 5-6 9mm. I loaded 120 9mm last night and took some pics...will post in the bullet porn thread tonight.

since you must ask...

C=Chris, GA=Georgia, Engineer=Because I work for my father at his engineering company.

I had started using the name many years ago and it kinda stuck...I am a member on many forums by the same name (Probably a bad thing)

21.0 grains x 532 rounds = 11,172 grains of N110. Almost ran out of N110...

Thanks,

Alan

No, I zoomed in on the not-messy part of the bench. The rest of the bench is a disaster.

Here are the bullets packaged right before I dropped them into an ammo can. IMHO, they looked better in the Dillon bins. I really like those cheap plastic bags Big Lots sells. You can get the snack size 50 for $1 and I can fit 25 44's in each one along with a load label. 5 of the smaller bags goes into a quart size stronger freezer bag (also cheepie from Big Lots).

Hi,

Thanks,

Alan

Have you ever thought about a desktop Dymo label maker for your labels? I use one at home and its great, makes very nice looking labels and I think you can get them for about $100

Here is a link http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/284256/DYMO-LabelWriter-400-Labeler/

I use them to mark everything, ammo cans, trimmed and sorted brass and labels for my loads. with the PC version you can save labels for different things (Templates).

Hi,

I've been trying to pickup components during the winter and now that the garage is warmed up a bit I'm looking to do some long loading runs before it gets hot out there. I got 150 45/70's to load, 500 defensive 40's to load, 500 target 38's to load, and mother of loadin jobs (at least for me), 2K in 9mm to load...

Thanks,

Alan
