Does this mean you took him out? Is your gunsmith problem solved?

Hopefully he sent my refund today.

Make sure to report back and let us know who to avoid dealing with.

Keep it in the family! Post over in Gunsmithing, and there's a bunch of us that can hook you up.
I personally hope to get a shop built (Freakin two empty acres, why not -right) and an FFL on the shop to keep the man out of my crib, so I can handle over the mail firearms for machining, gunsmithing, and I think I'll take the 07 route for manufacturing (Why not)...
There's guys over there that have decades of machining experience, and are valued members, so you can't go wrong.
You freaking engineers are all over the place :) I'm just a red, white, & blue collar turd that has an eye for detail.

If you are an 07 vs. a gunsmith, you will have to pay ITAR.

What's an ITAR, and how much are talking?

Registration required under the Arms Export Control Act of 1976. Currently at $2250 to start.

Basically, if you are a manufacturer or exporter, regardless of whether you export, any parts on the munitions list (even if you don't have to be licensed under the GCA or pay the special tax under the NFA), you have to pay. For example, rifle scopes fall under the scope of ITAR and require payment of ITAR.

How do you know all this stuff? It's like you wrote it! Did you?

Funny how you can do things after payin' off some government official. They call dat "bribin'" in some of the less developed countries. Proud to be here in the land of the free.

He has a great research assistant.

There was a whole bunch worked out at the old site while Freak was building his business from bullets up through to what it is now. I followed along for a bit, but when MMAP99 starts copying and pasting pages of laws and stuff I tune out. Interesting, just something I'll never do unless they start putting hard drives in guns.

---------------

BTW: So while I'm fighting some insomnia at the moment, I'm watching this most excellent DVD called "In Search of The Second Amendment". It's 100% lawyer talk, so I'm starting to think like P99 now. Woo I think my head is going to pop off. It's wham wham to the point! I think I'm going to have to watch it a couple more times to soak it all in...

No, Ron, sadly I didn't write all this stuff, if I did, the pages would all be blank.

I'm an engineer by trade, it's kinda similar to what I'm programmed to do.

Some years back when I got interested in history, particularly the Civil War, Reconstruction, Prohibition through WWII, I started to get involved with firearms. I find the history behind firearms probably more interesting than the mechanics of them (although being an engineer I like that too).

As such I started to look at the NFA, GCA, etc. to better understand history (along with other key acts, including Jim Crow, Sherman and Clayton Anti-Trust Acts, Civil Rights Act of 1964, New Deal programs, the changes in our financial regulations over the past 100 years).

After you read through the stuff enough times, you start to understand it as a side benefit. In short, I'm well read.

ETA: No, Boge, I've never touched the stuff, seeing as how the only thing I have going for me is I don't use drugs or smoke.

:hail: That why I would never bet against you... Now be honest, I bet the BATFE calls you when they need clarification and advise?

Dan, I wasn't implying that you did doobies, but was just joking about a theoretical assistant that we know you do not have. All in jest. You're the "go to" man around here for engineering questions just as Koski is the insurance "go to" man. Me, well I'm great with chicks. :biggrinjester:
