I am thinking of getting a Marble's Tang sıght for my Marlın 39a when it comes in.

However with the way it folds up and down I wonder how it can possible hold a zero.

So if you have experience with tang sights I would like ınfo about them.

They have a detent or "stop" that gives them repeatability. Fear not. They are neat sights and easy to use.

In Cowboy Action Shooting we call 'em "old fart" sights. :)

I prefer a receiver sight such as a Williams FP but Tang sights work just as well. As mentioned above they have a detent which "locks" the sight into place.

Ditto to JT's text, regarding my preferences. My only "objection" to the tang sight is that their positioning on the tang can interfere with the "normal" grip many shooters give a levergun. Check that by holding your rifle comfortably, and see where the trigger/lever hand lies when the rifle is shouldered.

Lyman and Williams are the mainstream aperture sight makers in the USA; Lyman has re-continued a few of their tang sight models in recent years, and both have a line of receiver sights available. Marble's puts out tang sights, and I use one of their (OLD) on a Savage 99 in 250 Savage. Look also at Skinner's Sights, an aperture type that attaches on Marlin lever rifles at the scope mount screws.
