Shooting today I was talking to another reloader and mentioned that I had shot some lead moly bullets. He said that he had heard that these wear out a .45 barrel very fast. Schuman, of Schuman Barrels, has said that the moly changes composition with heat and will ruin an accurate barrel quickly.
I tried to find a Schuman website to find out more information but found no site. My question is; Has anyone else heard this?

I have no documented scientific proof to back up my answer, but I know many, myself included, that have shot tons of moly boolits through many different guns and there have been no problems to speak of.

I read an article on it several months ago, myth buster type. Cain't remember where I read it. When I was through, I called horse hockey and put it out of my mind.
i've shoot enough of them to say two things; 1, i'm not worried based on personal experience and 2, i'm not worried based on what someone said.

I have had the lead tips of soft point bullets contaminate the moly coating ceramic media.
No moly will stick after that.
Throw the media away.
Throw the bowl away.
It is a good reason to use plastic tipped Vmax bullets.
