Howdy, I bought these Zero 158g swc for 38/357 and am curious about seating and crimping them. When I measure for correct oal I wind up with the rim of the case on the flat surface above the lube grove closest to the tip of the bullet. No cannelure. Any thoughts or suggestions?(yeah, I'm confused)

I like to work the case mouth to a minimum , so just a bit of flare to seat without shaving lead . The Crimp is zip on light loads , hotter rounds get a little . They write crimping can help the accuracy , aaaaah don't know.

Its more about fitting the chamber .

Since you don't have a groove to crimp into at your desired OAL, you might want to look at a taper crimp die. Another solution may be to seat a little deeper and apply a light roll crimp over the shoulder. I prefer to seat and crimp in separate steps and like a sturdy crimp for all loads. Many powders rely on firm bullet pull for clean combustion and the uniformity obtained thereby surely does no harm to accuracy. As Glooooock says, avoid excessive case flaring; past a certain point, bullet seating is not enhanced and it only overworks the case mouth.
