all of the 1911's i ever owned i have had to change stuff on. well after my super crappy fishing trip(southern missouri where all the floods are) i think i found what i want.
we made a side trip to Wilson Combat.......WOW. the people and the product are great. so now i think i might be in the market for one of their 1911's, jus tnot sure which one. even worse, i dont know how i am gonna slide 2-3K past the spousal unit...:banghead:

i was explaining that thought to my father(he was with me at WC) and he thought that might not work this time.........i was on vacation without wfie and kid:cornut:
no i think to make it happen i am going to look for a used one, and then i may have to sell one or 2 out of my safe:frown2:

You should look at Springfield Custom Shop guns before comitting to the WC. They are much better made.

i think more of the mystique of the WC gun is the service...
have you ever dealt with, or tried to deal with springfield armory direct. i have and was less than impressed with the way i was treated. WC treated me extremely well, and that was after i told them i was just there to spend some time and look things over. i got treated like i had previously spent 10 of thousands........i was truely impressed.
I understand. I have owned a CQB and a few Baers, but recently sold them to get the Springers. I was floored when I handled them. Just to give you a hint, the fit is so tight that you need a mallet to unlock the slide at first, but the gun runs 100% with everything. The clearances are maybe 30% of the Wilson or Baer. My P210 isn't as tight!

I'd take a P210 over a 1911 anyday. Feel like selling that P210?
Nope! I like it too much.
I wish someone would make knockoffs like the 1911.

+1
Da custom shop is a good crew. Dealt wit em a couple a times now. Zero crap, gun on time, run good, look good, eat errythang right outta da box.
Plus, they ain't got attitude IME
Killarbb;
good idea on finding a used WC. I was able to find one barely used for a considerable discount from new. runs great and feels better than any Springer I have. do look at the STI line as well. not nearly as pricey but damn accurate. have fun exploring and using whatever you end up with.
best, DJW

well i decided to put the idea on hold for a bit........i tend to "jump the gun" a bit sometimes and think i should probably think out this situation. i currently have a smith 1911 Dk that is hella accurate, and i have not had any problems(at least none that i didnt cause). the only complaint with the gun is the trigger could use a bit of work. maybe i need to just pony up and order some parts and go right back to working on it......?

Yep, I have dealt with SA. Very pleasent experience from start to finish. They took my old shot out Mil Spec and completly rebuilt the top end, under warranty. New barrel, slide, sites, trigger, hammer, sear , and other parts. It shoots better then the day I got it new.

I have a S&W 1911 PD and like it very much.
Must add that this the only one I have so can not compare.
I did shoot a few 1911 Colts in the past but this one is much better.

Don't know about today; but Caspian produced frames and slides for many of the top end 1911 makers in the recent past. Baer, Brown, Wilson, etc.
Caspian's business is growing so someone is still buying.
Wilson makes their own now. At one time they used Jericho until Kimber bought it.
