So tonight I made my first (2) batches, (30) Rounds each of reloaded lead bullets to shoot through my G19 with the KKM barrel. All I can say is, Reloading KICKS ASS! :dita:
I LOVE it, the fulfillment of making my own ammo and having it shoot soft, accurately, and not malfunction is just great. Man I'm glad I dediced to pursue this. I'm also glad I started with the 550 and not the 650 like some were trying to convince me to. The 550, being that you manually index it, has allowed me to catch a few issued in the process of making my first rounds, that I seriously doubt I would have noticed if it was auto indexing. So without further ado, here are the pictures of my range trip tonight, with my recently operated foot and all. Each target had (2) 15 Rounds mags shot at it, (1) COM. and (1) to the Head! Both targets were at 7 yards, and the shots were fired steady paced until the mag was done. :gun2:
This was the first batch:
30 Rounds 9mm
Range Pick-Up Brass
3.2 grains of Solo 1000
Winchester Small Pistol Primers
MBC 125 grain LRN
OAL 1.15
http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k366/ffgabe/Target-2.jpg
This was the second batch:
30 Rounds 9mm
Range Pick-Up Brass
3.4 grains of Solo 1000
Winchester Small Pistol Primers
MBC 125 grain LRN
OAL 1.15
http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k366/ffgabe/Target-1.jpg
Both of these loads were VERY soft shooters. There's no way in hell the listed data in the Accurate Arms PDF is correct for the max on this load. 3.4 grains felt like a baby fart and 3.6 grains is listed as the max.
And of course I have to include a pic of the vehicle for tonight's exercise:

Cool
Now ya know
Looks like ya hooked real good now. Now ya understand why most of us wouldn't even consider shootin crap factory ammo. Factory ammo is good only for components and sometimes not even all of them are worth using.
As far as published max loads are concerned, keep in mind felt recoil isn't always a good indicator of over pressure.

Yes I know about felt recoil and the max pressures, but there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding this powder right now. There's a thread on it over on BE Forums, and most guys are getting good rounds using well over 4.0 grains. Huge debate on this, but to be safe and follow procedures I started at the bottom and will work my way up.
The 3.2gr rounds felt like a damn .22LR, it was SWEET!
Did you shoot your two smaller toes?

1) I'm never giving up this Rocks!
2) I can never look at WWB and Blazer Brass again!
3) I will, got my CRB sticker up on the bench it came in the mail today from JJB.
4) Yes this will be true, the range use to be my relaxing place but I now once again have my space at home.
5) I know the savings will not be true because I will definitely shoot more now that I can make my own whenever I want, but don't tell my wife. :)
And yes I want to get into the 45's and 10mm's now, but this is why I decied to get set up reloading instead of buying another gun, the price of ammo will not be a factor anymore. And the powder I bought makes good loads in 45 ACP from what I hear also, so 2 for 1 on the powder when I start loading 45 ACP. :)

Did you shoot your two smaller toes?
Nope, I had corrective surgery to reset those 2 toes back on March 5th, the metal pins were pulled out a week ago. I reported for work today at the station after a ! month vacation due to the injury, but my foot and the steel toe boots were not getting along so I was sent home and ordered to see the doctor again. So after making my doctors appointment and running a few errands, I said what the heck let's load some ammo and go shoot. So that's what I did after playing with my kid all afternoon. Today was a good day! :)

You can always tell a reloader at da range, watches every piece of brass and brings ammo in a can instead of lil retail boxes
Me an Lonnie went shootin last year over at his range. He popped out a can a 45 ACP, nosy ol fart at da range walks over an sticks his face in dat can an gets a real big eyed look an ask Lonnie 'how much ammo is that'
Lonnie jus say 'only bout half a can'
Old man just stared for a lil bit an walked off mumblin somethin about bein rich an wastin ammo :animlol:

Lol, I got one better, my ammo went in Zip Lock bags today to the range, (2) bags each with (30) Rounds, labeled with a sharpie. 2 guys there kept going back to the counter and getting a box of ammo at a time. They seen the Zip Locks and were like where did you get that great looking ammo, and I tell them I made it at home before coming over. The looks on their faces were priceless, especially when I told them how much it's costing to load per 1K of 9mm shooting lead.

Yeah I heard it brings the price down considerably, but that's gonna have to wait until we have a house, no where right now in my townhouse for that. But thanks for the heads up.

Thanks brother, not my best shooting but I was a little nervous I might blow myself up, lol. :animlol:
Was more of a function check on whether or not I knew somewhat what I was doing today.
The flip flops are because of the right foot, I had surgery march 5th. can't tolerate any shoes yet. I have a couple pair of boots for work.

Take a good look at the primers of the 3.2 and 3.4 before you start making the 3.6 rounds. At some point you will start seeing some "primer flow" around the square head of the firing pin. Solo 1000 is so soft shooting it's a little deceptive I think. Not saying you can't make the 3.6 just saying you should be watching for those changes as you go through the process. Do the 3.2 and 3.4 cycle the gun OK?

Yes the gun cycles fine but the brass falls close to me on the right, doesn't fly as high and over like factory ammo would, that's a good thing right?

Yep, just means your slide velocity is slower. You can have issues with jamming if you shoot limp wristed or weakhand. I would probably settle in the 3.4 range if the gun cycles good with the 3.2 load.

Gotcha,
I'm gonna try some 3.6 loads just to see, there's no signs of excessive pressure on any of the cases that were fired yesterday.

FGC was closed so I went to Ace's. I've gone 3 or 4 times now and they have been cool. The Arrogant Fat ass that I don't like hasn't been there in a while, I don't think he works there anymore.
