Not surprising.

I'm waiting to see how they do in the field once they're released and fully intend to purchase one in 2010. Its a neat approach to a lightweight wheelgun with good handling charactersistics.

Nothing to sneeze at; if they hold up they should sell a lot of them.
I'm headed to the range & will ask my FFL if any dist.'s have them yet.

Man I bet that 158gr Buffalo Bore round is a handful! That is 340ft-lb from a snubbie, not bad.
Word on the street is that the big boys, Davidson's & Lipsey's, are getting the first ones & the waiting list is long.

There are quite a few of them on Gunbroker right now. I was looking at them two or three nights ago and there were probably 20 on there from various gun shops.
By Jove he's right!! Do you think that a lot of people/dealers put in early orders & try to "gouge/scalp" thinking people don't want to wait? One guy started his on GB for $650!!!

I went into one of the local gun stores yesterday, I really hate this gun shop and the owner with a passion, but I heard that he still had some small pistol primers for 21.00 a box so I will deal with him if so........... get there and see a guy walking out with 5,000 small pistol and I think to myself, right on,................. but that guy bought all that they had left.....
Anyways so Im sitting their listening to him run his mouth, a fella walks in and asks him if he has any Ruger LCR's. he looks up at him and says "no way, Ruger claims that they are out, but they are lying, there not out and Ruger is known for doing this, I would be surprised that they even ever make it" the fella says well I know that they are on Gun Broker, jerk face responds " no thats BS, even the largest Ruger distributor in America dosent have any on the shelves, and if he did then we would also" customer.... well then why is the gun in all of the magazines saying that they are being delivered?... Jerk face..." their not, ruger is lying, what you need is this S&W 357 snub, nite guard,
so the guy looks at it and see's the price 850.00, he laughs and says to jerk face that thanks but no thanks, he would just order one online, Jerkface then proceeds to rip him a new one and yells at him to leave the store !!!!!!!!!!!
I soon follow, about 20 minutes later I see the same guy at another gun shop that is owned by a decent guy, and theres that fella buying him a Ruger LCR, got the biggest smile on his face, I dnt know what he paid but i know it was no 850.00
My dealer is telling me the same thing as the gunshop owner. :(

Never buy a first edition model handgun, unless its a limited edition model. Instead always wait until it's been on the market with people purchasing and using them. By then a year to a year and a half have gone by and any problems will have been dealt with. I had to learn this one the hard way a long time ago, took me about three brand new, just on the market pistols to finally grow up and gain some common sense about the matter.

Tke prices for the new LCR are certainly inflated due to newness & availability.
The S&W "glory hole" revolvers are plentiful. :yuk:

I would at least wait until the first recall is done on the LCRs. Like JJB, I don't understand them being twice as expensive as a good ole Airweight. My Model 60 is great for pocket carry size-wise, but it pretty heavy being stainless. An Airweight would trim the fat nicely, while on the other hand so would a PF9.
The MSRP of the Ruger LCR is $525. Hardly double the rate of a "glory hole" J Frame S&W. The MSRP for a S&W 442 is $600. The inflated prices on GB are due to uniqueness, newness & availability.
I sure hope some of you guys had someone else prepare your taxes. :biggrinjester:

Saw one today at the local gunshop, $469.99. They got two at the end of last week and have sold one of them. Interesting little revolver, I think it would make a nice everyday carry with the crimson trace grips. The one I saw did not have the CT grips.

I gotta say in person they seem really light. It all comes down to how much you are willing to pay for 1.5oz savings either way.
Airweight - 15oz - ~$450NIB
LCR - 13.5oz - ~$550NIB
Airlite - 12.0oz - ~$850
My Model 60 is fine for now, but someday I would love to have a 340PD so I could have the lightest .38 (or .357 if I'm feeling extra manly) possible, and it have an enclosed hammer to boot. If you just want a cheap .38 right now the LCR can't compete with the gazillions of Airweights that are out there, but the LCR does definitely have the Airlites beat on price if you can go without a .357.
The MSRP of the Ruger LCR is $525. Hardly double the rate of a "glory hole" J Frame S&W. The MSRP for a S&W 442 is $600. The inflated prices on GB are due to uniqueness, newness & availability.

I will quote myself AGAIN. The LCR will be obtainable soon for a little over $400 when the newness wears off as the dealer cost is only $379.

I seen one a couple weeks ago priced at 465.00 under glass at the shop in town. They say it has a plastic frame, but I didn't look at it too close. Is there something special about these that makes em so desireable ? There are a lot of .38 Special snubs available out there, why pay more for this one ?

Just like I posted up above, if you want to pay an extra $100 over a new Airweight .38 then you can get a .38 that is 1.5oz ligther. People pay $900 for the scadium Airlites to save 3oz over an Airweight, which percentage wise is a lot more money per ounce of weight savings. Whether the LCRs will or won't be under $400 anytime soon doesn't matter, because they are lighter than an Airweight and for some folks that's what matters.

Nothing says you gotta shoot full snot .357s out of it all the time, or ever. Most folks seem to shoot the short barrel Gold Dots or some other .38 +P. Me, I shoot WWB 125gr JPH +P Personal Protection from Wal-Mart that are pretty cheap for a decent powered hollerpoint.

I meant with 38s. I've put 2 round of 158 gr 357 out of that revolver, that was enough for me. I'd rather shoot the 500.

Honestly I've never shot a scandium, but from what I've read they aren't too bad with +P 125gr range ammo. Nobody I know is crazy enough to spend twice as much on a scandium and they can for an Airweight that is 3oz heavier.

Man I'd love to find a 340PD for $400! Pefect carry gun being so light, and then you can decide how manly you are afterwards based on where your pain threshold is for magnum loads.

Bill Ruger has to be spinning in his grave over this revolver & the Kel-Tec clone !!
And Ruger dropped several models of the .22 r.f. line, you know, guns that people wanted & could afford.....
personal note for light weight carry situations....Glock 27.
A man should carry a caliber that starts with "4" !!

The 27 with PROPER defense loads is a handful for most people. Your average Joe Sixpack can't shoot a lil' pocket monster like that very well. Flinch City for most. I had one once & loved it, but I now have a G39 which I like even better, but with 200 gr. Double Tap GD's she's a screamer!! :yikes:

If we had concealed carry in the People's Republik of Daley, it would be either a G27, or my "working" gun, a G29.

Well, I got to see and handle an LCR today that had the standard grip's and have to say I was impressed by it. The weight and balance were good, so was the D/A only action, which was smooth through out the cycle with a suprise break at the end. The gunshop has it priced somewhere around $499.00, told me they'd take in a trade for me as well as give a LE discount to me. As much as I hate buying any first release firearm I'm sorely tempted. As a long time S&W J frame owner and shooter I'll say the Ruger feel's different.
