You tryin to get your tacticool on, Slick? Preparing for armageddon? I have never used one, course I don't have an AR or anything, so I just stick with a nice leather sling on my -06.

Nope.
It jus looked real handy, so I talk my way inta one in a kinda trade deal. I traded some 06 brass and a couple lil freebie scopes I got for a couple single point slings, a couple brass catchers dat work (on da lil demo tape anyway) and some clear mags so I can see if I need ta reload on my old raggedy 7.62x39.
I come out on da deal cause they gimme a couple infidel hats for cheap ta boot ;)
Slings run $50 each, mags $12 each, hats run about $14, brass catchers were $35 each, so I scarfed up lil over $240 worth a stuff for some 06 brass I had $70 in an a couiple freebie scopes. I kept one jus so I could try it an declare it worthy or crap.
I'm gonna put it on da 10/22 an see how it do. If it do OK, I'm gonna move it over ta somethin else

Single points are fine unless you are shooting 2 gun and after the transition to pistol the extremely hot barrel burns your leg, then you wished that you went 2 or 3 point.

I have a Gear Sector single point on my AR...strike that, the AR I used to have and sold to Joe at the range. Works pretty good for me. I do see how you could burn your leg....or shoot your instep  I'll get me a three point one day I'm sure...or make one.

The real deal operators use single point slings. They suited me up with one and a drop leg holster for some drills. As I mentioned before, it helped to remind me why I wear khakis and a polo while they wear BDUs.

But a lot of Soldiers, the real, real deal, the Professionals, are getting away from the single point for that very reason. Plus the gun flops around at the most inopportune time, no control over the muzzle - not good.

That was who I was referring to in the previous post. Now I'm not sure what they use when in combat. I have no experience with that, thank God.
Maybe these were left over slings used for the training?
I sometimes use a sling to help stabilize the rifle while shooting off hand. I wouldn't know how to do that with a single point.
My experience is limited.

I tried a single-point sling and it just didn't feel right. That, combined with a good solid whack to my nethers with the barrel, caused me to avoid that particular design.
I'd highly recommend the Vickers Combat Sling (http://vickerstactical.com/?page_id=51). It's an adjustable two-point sling that works quite well:
