View Full Version : Mauser front sight hood.
Anyone have a link or info for removal of the front sight hood on my Yugo 48A. It shoots to the right so I have to drift the front sight to fix the problem. The only problem I have is worrying about destroying the front sight hood in the process. Help! Thanks.

The sight hood is spring steel and snaps on. To remove it use a block of wood (hard wood if possible) or maybe a large brass punch. Tap the sight hood rearward to remove it. This is if yours is the same as my rifle. The front sight is usually very very tight to adjust. A really good brass punch and some hardwood support will help. The easiest way is to use an SKS sight pusher for the Soviet SKS rifle.

Here is a pic of the different Yugoslavian Mauser sight hoods.

The sight hood that wraps around the rear of the sight has to come off to the rear. The earlier model may come off to the front.
