Has anyone used an adjustable aperture such as a Merit aperture? Am I better off using a fixed aperture?

I have a Williams FP mounted on a Marlin 1895G. I have a rather large aperture installed currently that works well in hunting situations but I would like having the option of a smaller aperture when shooting targets.

Of course I could buy quite a few fixed apertures for the price of an adjustable.

What say the experts?

my dad is a small bore rifle competitior and naturally he thought i'd become one too instead of a pistol shooter. i learned to shoot with peep sights. never used an adjustable one but i sure can't see where i'd ever want to either. most of the peeps i've had have a screw in insert to make the opening smaller or the flip up type like is on ARs.

they work as you may need to change size caused by light conditions, carrying extra single hole ones hunting is pita
