Background checks and not actual transfers, but there still seems to be a bunch of guns being sold.
Don't know what to make of Kentucky's entry :dunno:

It makes me wonder if some agency in Kentucky is using NICS for something other than firearms transfer. The numbers are VERY consistent month-to-month.
Only 114 for the first quarter in DC? That's criminal!

Buds Gun Shop is in KY . . . . . might account for a 1/4th of the inquires.

I'm not statistics person but IN has had a large # of checks for the population. Of course we have lifetime permits and our own 2A in the state constitution.

What would also be nice to see is a quarter-over-quarter comparison of Jan-Mar of 2008 versus 2009.

Okay - Here's a larger JPEG that you can download and unzip. It's not as blurry as the other one.
Got one for last year as a comparison?

Nope - But here's an HTML version of the above PDF. I should have thought of this first.

Okay - I found a report from 2008 through the 3rd Qtr. I'll let someone else do the analysis.
Here's a direct link to the PDF for anyone that wants to look at the whole thing. The page attached below is page 10.

But why they still all dat pent up demand in TX? Folks there shoulda already been packin' heat with a spare.
My base aeroport where the plane and hanger are, did a nics check on everyone who needs access to their property. They gave me an "airport badge" to open the gates and such, show to the local patrol when they ask for it. So I am sure other states are doing this as well. When I was giving the airport administration my info, I asked what they do if anyone comes back with a failing grade, they just had that deer in the headlights look and said they didn't know, everyone so far has passed.

NICS is ONLY for firearms sales. Other types of background checks are NOT run through NICS.

Good point, and they probably didnt do a nics check, but the answer they gave me when I asked what kind of background check, they said same background as purchasing a firearm. But then again, they guy was probably mistaken.

I have a feeling you got run through NCIC (National Crime Information Center), aka FBI, who also manages NICS, which is specifically for firearms transaction, which are sometimes confused since their abbreviations are so similar.

You probably hit the nail on the head.
