You're from Texas...your teeth maybe?

after that I'd take a stab at using a wrench, but that's cause I'm a yankee

I don't know why but I started having Elmer Fudd images pop in my head when I read that title. I thought they were pinned to the barrel? Might have to forgo CRB and go 'smith on that.

Prolly has the red loctite, so heat with a torch lightly and it will let go, otherwise you will mark up your barrel, piss yourself off and break a spanner wrench.

I know this from first hand experience

LOL

Let me clarify a little

Use a torch like those used to sweat copper pipe joints

Although if that didn't work Nitro's suggestion would definitely do the job, even without a wrench

strap wrench around the barrell(or lock it in the vise with padded jaws). then a wrench on the hider.....i dont liek the thoughts of cranking the hider off and possibly breaking off the end of that tiny gas tube.....oh and a bit of heat sure dont hurt.

jebus... do any of you guys own the vise blocks? They hold the receiver in a vise so you can use the proper wrench (you do have a barrel wrench right?, the one that allows you to unscrew flash hiders?)

Vise blocks are about 35-40$ and are available at most gun shows. Do yourself a favor and pick up a set. Makes stuff like this a breeze.

If it is a pinned flash hider, you will have to dremel the material around the pin so you can grab it with a pair of needle nose pliers and remove it. After that just spin it off.

If it was silver soldered in place, you will have to heat it to 1200*F, I think. Enough to melt the solder.

Pins? Loctite? Saints preserve us.

It'll be soldered or pinned on only if somebody DemocRATic'ed it up!

or has a short barrel with a long flash hider installed, the 14.5 m4 barrels done this way like the 11.5/5.5 ones unless you got tax stamp for sbr/mg

btw get the barrel vise blocks to hold the barrel and use the wrench, if you hold the receiver you may damage the upper by opening up the slot where the locating pin resides for the barrel nut

Gonna hit it wit a heat gun ta see if it a loosen up some next weekend. Got a lot on my plate da next few days, so I had ta move dat back some.

If it on wit red loctite, a good shot wit a heat gun a break it.

If not, I got some aluminum barrel blocks somehwere from back in da day. Guess I a hafta go diggin for em

Any update on this? How did it work out. I'm going to remove the A2 from my upper and get a Phantom FS with the QD suppressor mount.

Try the heat gun , sometimes the aluminum pulls the heat away too fast . One of the quicklight propane torches can get up the temp quickly . The loctite should get soft at 180 F

I got it off witout messin it up about a couple a weeks ago when I got home (before I left again:incazzato:)

I hit it wit a high tone heat gun for about a minute, then backed off a lil bit an hit it again.

Usin a wrench on da flats it took all da force both my pythons could muster. All at once I hear a big crack (thought I broke da metal). But, it slowly started to work off a lil at a time.

I cleaned up da threads real good an got all da thread locker off it (or whatever it was).

I was gonna go wit a long hider, but decided to go with a slant brake instead. I had one in a box a crap I traded for a long time ago an remembered it. It look kinda funny when ya first look at it. It a definitely make ya do a double take.

I thank da brake was made by Model 1, mighta been somebody else. Color match real good, so I decided I a try it an see how it work out.

Onliest thang I ain't been to da rifle range wit it since I got it on.

But I will ;)

When I was rail forearm on my Bushy I could get the flash hider off despite heating it up and puttin' it in a upper block. I then read that Bushmaster is known for puttin' on flash hiders on tighter than hell. I eventually gave up and took to a Albq. gunsmith and he had at for about 7 minutes then came back with it off and didn't charge me. He said that booger was on pretty tight too.

Bit late since you went ahead without my advice, but HACKSAW work every time, don't even need a new blade.
