Right now I am shooting 75gr HP Match bullets for groups with my 243 Win. Since it is a bolt action this would make for a good lead candidate right? Right now this is the most expensive, off the shelf factory loaded, round I am loading for. Would I lose much in accuracy casting? Would I need gas checks and negate much savings?

I will be loading for 7mm Mauser as soon as I pick up some powder. Loading for an 1895 Chilean Mauser which is the most expensive round I shoot, I expect reloading to really save me $$$ here. Is this rifle a good candidate for casting? Would I need gas checks here? Thank you lead gurus.

Given the velocities of .243 rounds, yes, you'll need to use a gas check to keep the back of the bullet from melting. Gas checks for the smaller rifle calibers are generally in the 2 cents each range, so they will chew up about 1/10th of your savings with casting.

Check over on the cast bullet association's website, http://www.castbulletassoc.org/, and the people over there should be able to tell you which moulds give the most accurate bullet in .243.
