Dad just handed over 1200+ cases of once-fired LC69 30-06 brass, all nicely organized in ammo clips in a military cartridge container. I've got the first batch running through the tumbler as I type this. I just got the Dillon dies for 30-06 last week too.

Now, since this is once-fired LC brass, I'm assuming I'm going to have to remove the primer crimp, correct? Would the Dillon Super Swage 600 be the tool that I'm looking for?

I have never used one but from people I have talked to and the video's I've seen on youtube the Dillon is the way to go.

Super swage is the ticket.

Yup, love mine...good score on the brass. I am up to about 300 30-06 cases now.

Yeah, good ol' Dad goes "I've got a few pieces of 30-06 if you want them". A "few pieces" turned out to be an entire friggin' ammo container full from his (fully restored) M1 Garand.

I would hate to see what would happen if he said he had several to get rid of.

There are cheaper ways to remove a military primer crimp, but if you have the big bucks for the Dillon tool, go for it. I've used one and it was nice.

What are you going to use to de-prime them first?

A normal size die will remove the primer. With as many '06 cases you have I would think hard on a Dillon Super Swage. There might be cheaper ways of removing the crimp. I like the "feel" of a swaged procket. With the super swage you will be set up for any GI case with a crimped primer you might come across.

The best money I've found for GI brass though is to uniform the pockets once swaged. L/C 69 is not the most uniform GI brass out there.

I assumed the deprimer on my 550B. Is there a better way?

has super swedge, bent the arms as different cases had different web thicknesses - use a chucked deburring tool in electric drill now
as fast and way cheaper

It is a strange year for brass.
Ebay stopped brass sales after Virginia Tech.
The price of brass has nearly doubled.
There are "out of stock" status on many internet brass sources.
Pat of Pat's Reloading tells me that there is about a year's worth of US surplus brass left, and then there will never be any more, as a result of the anti Talon ammo legislation.
