How do Hornady's rebate bullets compare to other first class defense bullets like Winchester Ranger tactical bonded, etc.? (.40 of course)

I've loaded some 9mm 147-gr XTPs over 7.7-gr Accurate #7 and a Fed 100 for my G34 and carried them with absolute confidence. They may not expand as much as other "premium" bullets, but they are damned accurate and drive deep, and still expand pretty well.

That's all you can expect from a bullet.

But hell, I'm probably the wrong guy to listen to. I like hard cast 158~173-gr SWCs in my .38 revolvers! Expansion is not my main priority.

I got 1000 XTP .45 230gr with my rebate. I would carry them with confidence. That said, I'm a Ranger fan in 9mm and a Golden Saber or Gold Dot fan in .45.

Federal 9mm HST reliably expands to .75"

XTP 9mm expands to .60" most of the time

XTP's are highly accurate projestiles, but they are old technology.

I carry handloaded XTPs in both 10mm and 45 Auto.
